Hi. Just trying out this site for the first time. Looks like there are lots of nice cars and polite people. Nice 'Stang by the way!
Although I wouldn't want to pay to keep it in 'petrol'.
:)

Yes, I put the hood locks on it. Pretty straight forward job. I have had stupid people(non car people) ask why in the hell I would have locks on my hood. Stupid people piss me off:D

nycMGfan,

My car gets back and forth to work a little over 20mpg, highway 25-26mpg. Really not that bad. Nice to have you on board.

Exactly my thought when I moved to USA. The roads in Finland are much better. If they are even worse in UK than USA...

SkylineUSA

Depends on where you go in the States. In the best ran city in the world(Phoenix) the roads are pretty nice, comparing them to the ones in Ok, Ms, Ga, La, and Al.

I guess its where you are at.

There isn't that much difference to say that the roads in USA are not bad. If been in all of west coast and most of east coast, TX where I currently live, OK, CO, ID, WY, UT, AZ,...

How much better are the roads in Finland?

BTW nice Mustang, noticed you got the '98 Cobra rims on the right front and '95 R rims on the rest, did you bend the rim or something? How often do you see other mustangs on the road?

Compared to US, a lot better. US roads are wider but a lot bumpier, not to mention the built style and material. Slick and reminds riding in a train, du-dump-du-dump-du-dump...

You might see some bad roads in northern Finland but that is due to weather. When the gorund freezes in the winter and then melts in summer, that creates bumps and cracks, but they are fixed quite often (meaning brand new asphalt to play with...).

Actually KevlarMKIV,

Both the front rims are '98s. When I first got the car it would trammel really bad with 255/40 Yokahomas on the front. I was messing around with my Eliminator by putting the 98s on it with 245/45 Gatorbacks, but it did not look right, so I through 2 of the 98s on front of the Stang to see how it would handle, and the trammeling went away completely.

Might I add, good catch.

Sounds like you either had a bent rim or an unbalanced one. I used own a few mustangs and I'd still ike to get a '93 Cobra, that is how I noticed , although I wasnt completely sure the L/F rim was also of '98 vintage, I guess it was just lighting, but now i see the deeper "grooves".

Im sorry to say I dont know much about Finnish history, but as far as where youve been it seems like those places have been around awhile. By that I mean most of the roads were probably once wagon trails and such that were just paved over and turned into roads without redesigning them for better results. Either way, you cant beat America's long highways, unless of course we take a ride on the Autobahn ;)

I am pretty sure that my trammelling was caused by the width of the tire. If a tire is bent, or out of balance you get a tire hop, not trammelling. At least this my experiance.

Well, I do live in the US. It's not where I've been as I've been to more places in the US than the average American.

Sure, the highways are long and wide but the quality isn't anything special. Besides, for driving enjoyment, you don't want long and wide... try narrow and twisty. And smooth. :)

Like those nice smooth roads the ralley cars drive on, which if my memory serves me right, a lot of the courses are in Finland:confused: :D

Now those would be the country roads. Have plenty of those too, as do USA, but the paved roads are good. :)

You really should, it would be a nice trip. Lapland, the land of the midnight sun. Take your Stang over to France, drive it to Denmark, take the boat over to Sweden, from there to the coast of Norway, all the way up and then to Finnish Lapland. Back to Sweden from Tornio and drive through Sweden back to Goteborg (Gothenburg).

Although your Stang might not be the best transportation on those twisty mountain roads, if you like beautiful scenery, you won't regret of making the trip. ;)

BTW, Olson is a last name... :)

Once I get the Stang set up I should see no problems on your nice smooth, twisty, mountainous roads.

Before it is set up, there would be no way in hell I would consider it.

See here now Sky, if you have a very wide tire up front and it tramlines alot, try a tire with less straight lines in it. (Like Proxies TS-1s or somthing)

Nice ride BTW, I already replied to your post in Skyline :)

Hey SkylineUSA, do you happen to subscribe to 5.0 Mustang magazine? There is a great article on a sweet 450HP '91GT from your neck of the woods (UK). If youd like I can scan it for you and post it, let me know.
