 Oh, man. If only I was smart enough to just write a damn letter to Tamiya, I'd have one in a couple of weeks...

Pretty nice kit, though, for a curbside... :D

I'll finish mine... eventually :(

What color's yours going to be?

BTW, I lost the windshield some time after I cut off the side windows. (They're molded as one piece) Apparently that makes the windshield angry and it runs away. Be careful if you do this.

Yeah, I noticed the side windows are part of the front! I think I'll get rid of them too! SO I better lock down that windscreen!

Colour is a tuff one, as it looks great in quite a few.
I am quite keen New Formula Red or Monte Carlo Blue Pearl, but they would both have a black interior! It would be a shame to miss out on the red!
So I may go for Silverstone Metallic and Red seats!

I quite fancy an S2000 after the Prelude, so I may ring my dealer and book a test drive. That will really get me in the mood to do the kit!!!:D Maybe I'll model the car I end up driving!! THAT would be cool!

I saw a red one this morning. That car looks good in every color.

If so, I'd be proud to own its sister car here in the U.S.

Except mine would have a windscreen!:D

I was going to suggest making one to fit, but having looked at the kit, it is a major part huh!
Only way to get round it is buy another kit???

They'll replace it, or let me buy another one of the clear parts tree, when I get around to contacting them. While I'm at it I'll hit them up for another couple sets of metal "H" emblems to use on my NSXs. :D

Hey Guiddy, are you going to make those little black thingies that go in front of the headlights on the european model? What are those things, anyway? Washers?

And slightly off-topic; I was on the UK Honda site... why do they quote speeds in mph? I thought you guys were all metric and stuff.

I think they are washers, I have yet to look at one closely!
No, I won't be adding them to mine! They look crap and will probably be a pain in the ass!

It goes against me new 'get it done a bit quicker' philosophy too!

We use MPH still because France use KPH, and we do the opposite to whatever France do!:D

Updates on this kit.
Suspension was completed tonight, just some weathering to add to the exhaust.
All was Ok here, just a bit fidly getting the shocks to line up when the subframes were added.
Nice tight tolerances, though allowing for just enough paint!
Try to keep the paint thin on all chassis parts.

Guiddy

Top view.
Suspension rides quite high, though all is as it should be!
Note the wheels have been sprayed, the Tamiya chrome finish proving too bright for my liking!
S2000s don't come with chromed or polished wheels, so mine won't either!
BMW Artic silver was used for the wheels.
The body is waiting for a coat of laquer now before black lining and light fitting, followed by another 2 coats of laquer.

That there is about how far mine got... :(

Guiddy
09-12-2001, 06:05 PM
Hmmmmmm, I hope mine gets further!
The windscreen is still safe, and I have trimmed the two side windows off it! That was very easy, the joining line proving to be very thin.

This is the effect I want to achieve on the exhausts. I prefer my silencers though, better shine!

I got mine out the other day to see if the chassis from the plastic model would fit in the die-cast body. I was dissapointed. It would take a lot of work, and really doesn't look that promising anyway.

Now working on the interior.

The red leather was achieved through a 50/50 mix of Tamiya Gloss red X7 and flat red, XF7, put through my airbrush. The carpeted area is flat red. The contrast looks great and worked well.
The interior is quite simple to paint, only the complex door panel proving hard to mask. I will have to use my liquid masking compound for that.

The front suspension bugged me, it was too high, so I dismantled it and filed a few areas down, opened a few holes, and now I am happy with it's stance.
The Honda Silverstone Metallic paint can only be described as spangly!!!

Jay!
09-15-2001, 04:38 PM
Looks good! I masked the door panels okay with tape. Brown masking, IIRC...

Dont you dare forget to paint the "ENGINE START" button red! :D ;)

Also, I was dreaming of making floormats for this car out of styrene sheet. I was going to try to simulate the little "S2000" logos stitched in. :D Look for F20C's pics of his car for reference. :flash:

It doesn't show, so here it is!

Nice car! I see yours has the orange front lights, were as here in the UK they are clear.

Mine is coming along very nicely, though having to redo the carpet and side panels is a pain.
The masking fluid liked the Tamiya paint too much, and wouldn't let go, so I have had to strip it and redo them, but that shouldn't hold me up as I have to wait for the laquer to cure now before polishing.
The rear lights were completed today, and look great!

Pics as soon as it is done!

My cats like to knock things off my desk, so I'm always re-gluing side mirrors back on. And last night, I was dusting my MR2 with a cotton swab, and the spoiler poped off!   I guess the bond was weak, because it was glued on top of the body's paint. Damnit!

The front lights need a bit of work, they are slightly too large for the recess, and then given an edge in matt black (I use a Tamiya paint pen)

I tried painting the red on the door panels first, then masking the reed to do the black, but this was a pain to mask, so ended up spraying the red over black with a light grey as a primer. this was successful with about 5 coats!

Other than that the kit goes together perfectly! Spend some time on the front suspension, it needs to sit lower than the front, so all mount holes need to be clear!

TIPS ???....Is it a light wash with orange ???

Guiddy
09-25-2001, 08:56 AM
Yep, first a washy clear orange thinned with Tamiya thinners, then a washy blue over the top!
Bit of smoke grey too if I fele like it, then I can also paint silver lines back over the top to simulate welds if I have absolutely no life!!!!
