This is what it looks like so far, no primer, no paint, just the body:

Nice.. just got the same car, but in the Original Telie livery yesterday evening. Can't wait to build it although I know the decals are going to give me a headache.

:toothless

Keep those pictures coming

MX.... of course it'll look nice... that's why i GOT this kit in the first place... I didn't want to do the decals (well, I might in the end, who knows....) but check this out, it's the 2002 DTM car... IMO it looks better without the decals! Just need to give the car a wickedly shiny silver paint job :sun:

IMO make it a street car with some chrome dubs....that would be tyte and without that spolier..

Not a big fan of Team D2's CLK car graphics, so I agree with the no graphics + shiny silver look. I vote to keep the spoiler though (since it is functional on the real car)--and not a big fan of chrome rims (especially not dipped chrome rims which are heavy as hell)...polished lips are cool tho.

i want that one that car is the shiznit my friend has one. hes almost done(still on the decals)

i want to build mine as a street machine with full interior. a little thing i hate about benzes are the fuken grills MB emblem in particular i usually paint them all black or replace them with black screens maybe a CF hood would look good too. i dont know about the spoiler it does serve its purpopse if i do it as a street car i might lower it a bit

i agre with Siege this car is not fit for dubs( we tried it looks like shit) instead for mine were going to get some Amistads when they come out

You are lucky to have found the CLK grade up from Studio 27 Mr HRModeler. :)
They are sold out now. :(
But nevermind... I have my hands, pasticard, wire and good references !!!
Ciao

Yes, I heard that is very hard to find now.
But I don't know why. If the kit so good selling why S27 don't follow it so much with PE parts.

Yeah, it'd be even cooler if it had tinted windows as well!

I wonder wat the chances are of Tamiya releasing the 2002 MB DTM machine like the one shown above.... IMO the 2002 looks WAY cooler... especially the side view... less chubby than the 2000 model.   Just looking at that lines gives me a hard-on!

Ahhh.... finally dug up this long-gone thread...

Haven't had much time to work on the CLK.... putting the Future clear coat on was painful enough.... i'm using a soft cotton swab as the applicator.....

The pics below show the body with about 30 layers of Future on it, and a final waxing with Turtle Wax... each coat of Future goes on VERY thin, so thin that u need at least 5 coats before noticing "shine". AND BEWARE, Future doesn't like water, it DOES NOT LIKE WATER..... if you try to wet-sand the stuff 15 minutes after it was applied, it will start to yellow and rub off the model like silicon on plastic... and what u get at the end is a very ugly surface.... ...the roof alone took me 5 tries to finally get it right and i had to wait several hours between coats... that's why it took so long... sigh.... i'm never gonna use Future again!

BUT it does prove that it's possible to get a nice, lustrous shine on TS-17 :) just takes time... lots of time....

Mirror finish, mirror finish! :D

How'd you prevent dust from getting onto ti between coats and while drying?

crab
08-22-2002, 08:44 AM
that's a good question... you pray :) my room happens to be the DUSTIEST room in my house... worse so than the garage! By the end of the day, dust 1mm thick would've accumulated on the surfaces already! I dunno where it comes from :(

So inevitably, there will be tiny dust particles on the surface right after a coat of Future. Good thing future dries fast... freshly landed ones can be carefully "picked out" using a sharp needle.

For dust that have "stuck" to the surface...wait several hours for the coat to dry, then sand it light with 2000 grit, this should create a flat, opaque patch on the surface.... then use some rubbing compound to restore the lustre. Every 5 or so coast, sand the entire surface with 1200, 1500, then 2000, then Tamiya Compound, then Turtle Wax, then another 5 coast, etc. etc. sigh.... so far I've spent 3 months on the body alone!
