the most common swap is the b16a2 it will get you 170 Hp and it costs around $2000. If your looking on spending all $15,000 then you can look in to higher perofmance engines like B18C which will get you between 180-197 HP they cost between $3499-$5999 on http://www.streetimports.com/homepage.htm another option is the H22a 200 HP For $2599 at street Imports.
Another place that might be work checkin is http://www.importbuilders.com/ they sell there own rebuild engines. They sell a Hydro CRV/VTEC engine for $6000 that yeilds 372 HP and 266FT of torque. If you dont want the turbo drop 1500 off the price and the hp drops down to 225. THe turbo is alot safer with there setup because the internals can handle high boost. The Hp i quoted you is for 12 psi of boost i think the engine can handle much more. I think this is your best choice.

why do people even bother souping up their ricerockets? Just leave them stock. With all the money you spend on souping up cars, you could have already bought a nicer car!!!

He's probably just mad that a mildly modified import can put his overpriced Mercedes to shame.

it's still a Honda or Daewoo or old integra or whatever the heck it is.
Prssh, yeah right, a mildey souped up asian import can whup a CLK55 hhaah, that's funny. Yeah, it'd better be a '97 Supra anything less could kiss those AMG tail pipes goodbye.
But back to the point...I've seen those souped up cars...they look hella ugly and dangerous. The sport trims seem like they're about to fall off...they make loud ass turbocharger noise, the chassis isn't developed to handle so much extra power, and the list goes on and on and on. And damn those ricerockets...they flex like hell when you do high speed turns.
If it were my choice...i'd just save up money till i had enough to buy a luxury car instead of spending bits and bits of my money on useless items.

why you goin to come in to a fourm just to bitch how hondas suck? Why not tell us how you can beat us wit your CLK cause i doubt that it can touch me. I think you need to take that dick out of your ass and race me and then we'll see whats up wit with your CLK which by the way is a peice shit and over priced like a bitch. you say imports are ugly and that is your opion but they dont seem to be goin away it seems like every day i see more and more. I dont got a problem with Mercedes they can make some straight shit but unless i was a pussy ass golfer or somethin why buy one of them if you have the money why not buy a Porsche or a Ferrari? Maybe it could be that your boyfriend told you that you couldn't. If your goin to talk shit at least be able to back it up

Man, you gettin' hyped!! Look buddy, if I wanted to buy a Porsche, I would have, but i like Mercedes-Benz's cars. A CLK55 cost as much as a Porsche Carerra and performs just as well. They are in the same league. Obviously, Mercedes is on a way lower level then Ferrari, so i won't bullshit about my car being able to whup a Ferrari Modena or Lamborghini Diablo SV's ass. My car has power to a certain extent, 342 hp and a 376lbs of torque at i forgot how many rpm. Yes, and i know that is nothing compared to a Ferrari or Aston Martin or Lambo and i admit that. But you fools need to stop thinking that you're all that with your 2 liter del sols and little integras.

There are a lot of wide variations of engines that you can put in your sol that are in the Honda family. It's really hard to pin point what the best setup is, because you can take an engine, it's internals, and addition power to so many levels. Some to consider. Not sure exactly on the hp/torque numbers, but here is a general idea.
b16a3 or b16a2 160hp DOHC VTEC but a poor torque ratio of 111lbs.
LS (b18 SOHC VTEC) has like 140 hp but a bit more torque. Not sure about the number but like 120lbs or so. You can put the b16a head on it coverting it to a LS/VTEC conversion that would creat more hp
Similar to the LS/VTEC conversion is the b20 which was in the old CRV before the new one this year. It has like 140hp, but more torque like 135 or so. not sure exact on the numbers. It's a more common swap as well as converting it to a CRV/VTEC.
Also a great base engine to turbo, due to a lot more torque in the engine if you don't go crv/VTEC.
b18(GSR) DOHC VTEC 170hp and like 130lbs of torque(not sure on the torque, but around there. Another common swap you will see.
b18c5 (TYPE R) DOHC VTEC 190hp and not sure about the torque, but guess it's in the 130's or so. The transmission for this engine has a great ratio and throw. You could probably use the type r trans on like a GSR or the b16 and see a hugh improvement.
h22 (Prelude) over 200hp not sure about the torque. It has been done in some solers cars as well as an issue of Sport compact car like 2 years ago. It was a yellow sol. There are issues with putting this engine in, like the weight of the engine, special brackets for the engine to fit, suspension needs to be upgraded to comensate for the weight of the engine. This conversion is better for the sol if the car is just meant of dragging, not for like great cornering. Since the weight of the engine is more than the b16 or the b18 series then it tends to oversteer or understeer in the turns. Can't remember which.

thanks alot for the break down in engines that def helped and on another note dangerous he said the cars look dangerous what a bitch dont gte me wrong i would take a clk but what skill does that take buying a car that is already quick the key is to take an average car and takin 8it to crazy levels where each performance part u see a slight increase which makes u crave for more im not sure where ur from but u come around by my with a clk and they will teach u what speed is ive seen nissan's with more power then ur shit please

One thing to look at is how much power you want. JUN Automechanic will guarantee you a 10 sec engine for $15,000 fully built and installed, All they need is a $5000 deposit to begin work. Are you planning on doing a lot of the mods yourself?? H22a is nice but way to heavy if you are looking to do anything but go in a straight line without suspension mods. Me and my bro have had good luck with the b16a2's but when you go forced induction make sure that you fortify that bottom end. We also have done the cr-v/b18c hybrid. Good if you are planning to stay naturally aspirated. I think that you should call up some reputatble tuners and see what they can offer you in terms of turn-key or parts for whatever engine that you choose. Try JUN, Spoon Sports, XS engineering, or a local tuning shop if ya trust them. Also look for authorized shops from Greddy and Apex-i, they will also give ya good info. Look into the mounting and wiring/computer problems that you might run into. Lots of options out there for ya, cash is the only thing holding ya back. Good Luck!!:sun:

i have a del sol s. yes slow would be a good word. would a v6 accord engine be a good fit into a del sol? and would there be any possibility for modification? the only reason i dont want a vtech engine is because it would be hard to run a turbo on a vtech. is there any engine that would fit semi-easily into my car? and besides, i just think of a v6 putting out more power then a v4.

that fool riceburnerJB dont have a clk55 ill bet nething. Hes all spittin off hp and torque numbers he dont even kno wat they mean. so wat tha fuk if he can resarch on line and shit. and he must b hella stupid to know how much hp and torque his car has but not even kno where his car redlines. if u actually drive that car, you must fucking look at the rpm guage every time u drive it, its right next to tha fuckin speedometer. So how can you remember how much hp and torque ur car has, (which btw is NOT labeled anywhere on the car), and you cant remember where ur car redlines. ur a straight up busta and if neone here knew who u were or where u lived and saw u on tha street, ud fuckin back down lik tha lttle bitchass pussy that u are. i hate peeps who like to think theyre cool by putting other peeps down and lying about themselves online. dont u have any fuckin dignity? get a life fag.

Um, hp and torque of a car is found on the price tag that attached to the car...when you buy a new car...it has all the specs on it...how would i not know how much horsepower and torque i have? You're an idiot.
I've never redlined my car because it's the garage queen and i harldy drive it. I've never gone over 90. I don't know how much torque kicks in how many rpms
