You guys have to check out my car. It's a 2001 4-door cavalier. This engine is a stock 2.2L but thats all going to change. The exterior and interior are almost dont so its time for the Horsepower! I just got my gauges put in along with reverse glow so as soon as I get those pictures, ill getem in. Also, new drilled and slotted rotors plus calipers will be done soon. My connection is too slow so youll have to check out my car at my msn space.....

This has been about a 7-month project and is only going to get larger. Give me a shout and let me know what you think.

What, no V-Tec stickers?

Its pretty nice looking. Could use some more work though. Im not digging the spoiler. Its way too high and doesnt flow with the lines of the car. Too much mesh in the front bumper. Makes it look too busy. Also ditch the door moldings debadge the back and get some euro black tails.

Thats just me though.

it would look better with out that wing.... but nice.

looks prettty good man. I like the wing personally, i think it flows with the car pretty well. I dont like the back bumper or the seat covers, but other than that it looks great.

Thanks for the input. The spoiler has been the most questioned mod but it has grown on me. I do have a long way to go before it's a true show car but i've got to take it one step at a time. My next step is to hopefully get this engine swap taken care of and transmission swap......but that's getting costly. We'll see how things go. Anyone else have any pictures of there car? Oh, roof scoop to match the ram air hood or not? Thanks.

If you ask me the only good scoop is a functional scoop. If its not functional its just pointless weight.

It's looks ricey, but I like rice! Did you do most of the work yourself or did you pay to have it installed? Roof scoops just don't do anything for me, I'd rather have a sunroof. I like the wing, I like the look of the aluminum wings myself but it's your car, and like you said, it's grown on you, so I wouldn't change it on account of what others think. I believe one's car should mirror the personality of the owner. Sweet!

Hehe. With the high wing and the body, it looks like a Tiburon + Lancer hybrid :grinyes: Me likes. Definitely looks aggresive.

How much have you spent on it? Since you said you've done purely cosmetics thus far. Also, get one of the shorter antennas. Personally, I dislike the long ones cause it makes my car look like a RC toy.

I am not familur with the fiberglass and installed plus after spendin all that $$$$, i DID NOT want to mess anything up. A local body shop made the install. I was with them step by step though trying to learn for the futue. Overall, im workin on $5,000+. Just for the kit, hood, spoiler + installed, that was reachin $2500. I have a Kato kit from Andys Auto Sport. Probably one of the most expensive but it was the one that jumped out at me. Add the interior ($800 for seat, headliner and door panels) plus the wheels and tires, thats another $2000. It gets expensive, and the next part.....the engine and tranny, are going to kill me! I just uploaded 4-more pictures. A better picture of the seats, the new Gauges, and myself with the car. Thanks a lot for the input.

Let me get this right. You have yet to really turn a wrench on your own car?

pbballer21
07-16-2005, 12:39 AM
Ha. I just said that I was with them every step of the way. Im only 18. Im young with a lot of time to learn. Im not just going to hop in with a couple thousand worth of parts and wing-it. Damn, all you seem to say is negative stuff. Your cars nice! Is that what you wanted to hear? Calm down and have a good time. I didnt come on hear to get banged around by some dickhead. Cool? To the rest of you, thanks.

I wasnt being negative I was asking a simple question as well as giving my opinions. What is the point of making an opinion thread if you dont want opinions good or bad which none of mine where attacks or rude in any way. If you would like me to get that way then please just say the word and I would be more then happy to verbally lay into you.

Also at least this dickhead did all his own work to his car. I as well have a few grand put into my car and at the time I first started on my car I knew about as much to change my oil and check my tires. Yes, you can learn a lot from someone teching you as well as being there to see things in action but nothing teaches better then just jumping in and doing it yourself. The way you should have looked at it is like this....

You where probly going to take it to a shop to get the kit and stuff installed. Well then why not take a stab at it yourself? I at first was planning on taking my car in to get my kit installed but figured why the hell not give it a shot if things get rough or I feel like Im going to fuck it up then I will take it in. As it turns out the install went well and I saved myself a butt load of money.

Im not saying just say hell with everything and do it yourself even if you end up trashing a project and your out a high end item and alot of money. I am merley saying there is no harm in taking a stab at it yourself and if things get too hairy then take it to a pro. If you are able to do it yourself with no pro you not only get the satisfaction of saying you did it yourself with little knowledge and with the money you save you can get more mods with the money you would have ended up spending on an install.

Next time you are going to read inbetween the lines of a post, read the right lines. I may come off as a rude jerk sometimes but that is only because I am a very methodical SOB and dont use the smileys a whole lot to denote any other kind of joking manner such as sarcasm or what ever.

Here.... :lol2:

And on a quick edit....my car looks like dead ass.

Thanks PsychoJJ for the advise. Youve got to realize that Im only 18 and that I dont have a bank surplus of $$$$. Ha, if I took that $2000 of parts and tried myself, it could turn out BAD! Im one of those people that would just keep working on something until its either finished or trashed. I do understand where your coming from and I was not trying to be offensive in any way. Its just that I could definently appreciate some positive feedback after investing $5000+ into my car. I do understand that it is an opinion board, and that not everyone is going to like everything on a vehicle, but us cavalier owners got to stick together and pimp our cars! Its not always about the Nitty Picky stuff, but the fact that we're trying. I hope we can avoid these little pointless fights in the future. Thanks again and good luck in the future.

Change your corner lights for some clear ones. I'm not a big fan of the wing or back bumper, but hell it looks 100% better than mine.

Thanks all for the suggestions. I just moved to St Louis on the 18th and i havent had the time to get the interent hooked up. Mod'd_Cavy, hope to see some pics soon. Sounds like you have something going. Ive thought about the clear corners, but for some reason, they just dont seem to fight me or the car. Im probably wrong, but im going to stick with those beautiful orange ones for now.

Id like some straight and simple answers. I have the 2.2 non-ecotec. NO ENGINE swaps. Id like to get about 200-230hp WITH engine reliability. Turbo Kit? Could a turbo kit run that HP without internal mods? And if I wanted to change the pistons......what a good compression ratio...8:1? 8:9:1....what would i need to keep reliability plus horsepower...

LMAO first you hijack a thread and then ask for an option to hadd 60-90HP an expect the car to be reliable. Listen your car can be slow and reliable or it can be fast and have 1000 more things that can break on it at any second. Can you run 230HP and not break anything, yes its possible, but most likely things will break.

I dont know what everyone else is talking about. I think your car is real clean. I like the wing alot personally. It gives the car more style you dont see cavy's runnin around with wings like that. I think you did good work. I dont know about the roof scoop though that may be pushing it. But definatly post some pics when you do the engine swap cuz you got my attention now. good work bro
