My poor baby!

Well my Saturday totally sucked!! :( :( :(
I was driving along the Auckland Northern motorway (just come off the Harbour bridge) where it widens into 5 lanes. It was really windy and pouring with rain. I was in the outside lane behind this 300ZX and I’m not sure if it was the backdraft of him accelerating or if it was the wind, but a massive thick plastic sign that was lying in the fast lane of the motorway  (must have fallen off a truck or something) just lifted off the ground and my car went smack bang straight into it. The sign shattered into a million sharp pieces and now my car has scratches on just about every panel and a dent in the bumper. It also managed to rip the plastic guard from behind the wheel it hit with such force. :( :( :( I’m just thankful that I didn’t brake otherwise I would have spun out and probably caused more damage. Thankfully no one was hurt. :)
The one bonus is that I will get all the stone chips that are on my bumper fixed up. :)

Suppose there's no way of identifying the sign either....crossing the bribge on Sunday saw a BMW that had oversteered on the southern approach and hit the median wall, spun round and hit it again. You were lucky it didn't end that way for you,BUT IT STILL SUCKS ANYWAY.:(

I rang *555 as soon as it happened and they told me to report it to the police which I did, but they said there’s not much they can do. The sign was in a million pieces. She said that it was just one of those freak accidents and as long as no one was hurt and I was insured, there wasn’t much else they could do. The real bastard thing is that our premium will go up because of it and it wasn’t even my fault! : (

Well you are lucky that was the only damage, I suppose that is pretty minor. But the Auckland motorway is a barstard

Thanks everyone. I’m taking her to the best painter and colour matcher in Auckland, so she should look awesome when finished. :D Insurance will be covering the repairs so that’s good. I think it will cost a fair amount to fix too considering it’s just about a total respray. Some of the scratches are really small, but the point is they weren’t there before so they should be fixed.
New Zealand roads suck that’s for sure.

That’s true. Since found out that the road we live in is going to be resurfaced in the near future. Wonderful! I’ll just get my car all nice and newly painted and the council will stick that damn gravel all over the road and I’ll have a whole new set of stone chips in the paint!
Guess I’ll have to drive REALLY slow over it for a while.

Hope the comes out of cosmetic surgery looking as good as new (or better! :D ) Thanks JD. You're right, I've only had my baby for about a month. That's always the way :(
The bonus is that the insurance company have said that if it needs a total respray, it needs a total respray and they are fine with that.
The panelbeater said he will probably totally respray both sides of the car and bonnet and give the whole car a good buff and polish. Should look really sweet when it's finished. All in time for Autosalon in June! :D :D :D
