Ghetto's got seats, NOW INSTALLED!!!!!

Hey, I purchased some '99 Integra heated leather seats last night and they are perfect... same color as my interior and everything! Right now they are sitting in my shed until a little later when I put them in my 5th gen hatchback. I've attached a pic of them as they are in my shed... so check them out at the bottom of the post.

I'm not an expert on removing and replacing seats so a little help from the experienced would be greatly appreciated. Maybe just a short step by step for me? Any help is still help.... thanks guyz!

Its not worth your time installing them, you should just sell them...to me. But in all seriousness, it shouldnt be much harder then unscrewing the four bolts holding it down and swapping the seats. But I dont know if they will line up perfectly or not. And the heated portion of it? geez, beats me. I can see I've been no help to this post.

Ok let's get to it. First thing first, you need to prepare the Teg seats for the transfer so you need to remove the seat rails from them. First you need to remove the plastic covers from both sides. They have a few phillips head screws holding them in. Then you need to remove the four bolts holding the seat rails to the actual seat. I believe they are either 10mm or 12mm. The seat rails also hold the back of the seat to the bottom of the seat so be carefull. And do this in a place where you can keep track of the screws and bolts with each chair cause there will be a crap load of them. The precise location of all of these things isn't really important cause I don't remember them :p but it is very self explanitory. Just undo all of the major bolts and remember where each of the bolts go. There is a metal rod that goes from one of the rails to the other. They tie together the lever mechanism that allows the seat to be moved foward and backwards. You can undo the rod from one end so you don't bend or break it.

Do yourself a favor and don't unlock the sliding mechansism while the seat rails are NOT bolted to the chasis. The chiar will then be at different lengths along the rail and when you bolt the rails back to the chasis, they'll be uneven and it's a pain in the ass to get them even again.

Now you need to remove your stock seats. Starting with the drivers seat, First thing you need to is remove all four bolts that hold the seat rails to the chasis. They're 12mm bolts. The next thing is unplug the seat belt sensor harness from the bottom of the seat. Now you do the same thing you did to the teg seats. Remove the plastic covers from both sides with the phillips head scerws. Now remove the seat rails from both sides by undoing the bolts. And you now have both seats completely in pieces :)

At this point you need to REALLY keep track of the bolts and screws cause you need to transplant the civic seat rails to the teg seats. At this point you can remove (If you haven't done so already) the teg seat belt and transfer it over to the civic rails. Just to say "I have teg seat belts" :hehe:. And redo everything you undid from the both seats keeeping track of all the pieces. When you finish bolting the rails back to the seats, you can then reattach the metal rod that links the sliding locks. When you finish this you should have the Teg seats, with civic seat rails and teg seat belts with civic plastic covers. Confusing no???

Now you bolt the finished teg seat back into the chasis just like you undid the stock seats. If you did do what I advised you NOT to do and get the seat rails uneven, you need to have a friend support the weigh of the seats while you individually unlock and slide the rails back so they're even again. Redo the 4 12mm bolts and reconnect the seat belt sensor. And VIOLA!!! You now have teg seats in your civic. The same thing goes for the passenger seat. If you've never done this before, give yourself about an hour per seat. It's really easy. I did my del Sol seats without any instructions and come out perfectly.

Oh....I didn't know this :) Then disregard all that mumbo-jumbo I posted up and simply swap seats.

I want to put the back seats in also... how do I do that? As far as I know, they will fit... I've seen them in a Civic before. It's the lower bench and then 2 back rests that fold down. One thing that confuses me is that my hatchback seats have cloth material on the back, but these seats show bare metal in the back. I will have to relocate my amp and capacitor too then... since they were mounted to the back seats. Would you guyz know how to remove my Civic's rear seats and put the teg seats in it's place?

The rear seats are much easier than the fronts. For the bottom, you simply remove the old one and put in the new now. It has some metal clips towards the front of the seat that hold the bench to the chasis and need to be negociated with but you won't break anything by forcing it so just pull away. They're shaped like an L with the top of the L pointing up and the little tab pointing towards the front of the car, so you kinda need to push them towards the back of the car and then lift up. You'll get it.

As for the back, You need to understand how they are designed so you can get remove them. They have two hinge points on the chasis, one is in between them and the other is on the other side of the back. You can see it by removing the lower bench seat and pulling the back seat a little to the side. They way they're designed is they fold up and down on these hinge points. And they're also designed to move side to side on these hinge points as well. But on the seat belt side of both of the back seats, at the point where it hinges to the chasis, there are round plastic clips with a little tab on the them. These plastic clips prevent the side to side movement of the seatbacks. If you remove the plastic clips by pulling on the tab, you can then enable the side-to-side movement and this is how remove the seat backs. Move it to one side to unhinge it, from one side and move it to the other side to unhinge from the other side and and you have remove the seat. TO install you do the side to side thing, replace the clip and you're done.

As for the cloth on the back of the seats, you need to replace that with the clotch that's currently, on the back of your seats. It's held on with plastic clips that can simply be pulled off with a screwdriver. The cloth on both of the back seats is one big piece that extends into the trunk and covers the spare tire. That's why you don't have it on the teg seats.

Hey, I took my seats out and put the Integra seats in and they look very nice! I love them! Everything fits absolutely perfectly except for the lower bench part of the rear seat... it's too small both length and width wise. It's not too bad and I think I can get some vinyl that matches the same color, wrap it around foam, and put it in the gaps... should look okay.

So anywayz, just sharing my happiness with you and giving thanks to all those who helped! I couldn't believe how easy it was to do! And if I had someone else there to help me, it probably would have been a lot faster to do... but still, it was no problem. I love the top parts of the back seats, they fit so perfectly. The front seats do also... it's just that lower bench that I'll have to modify. Also... the metal clips from the seat don't match EXACTLY for the rear bench and the part that is bolted to the chassy is located in the wrong spot. Uh-oh... but I'll get it working. Thanks... I'm really lovin' them. I didn't use the integra seat belts. The sockets were black and they didn't look good at all... so I used my Civic belts and sockets since they matched colors very well.

Very nice choice. Looks just like you got them stock in your car. I like the look better than a flashy red/black racing seat. How much were they?

i just replaced the drivers side seat with an integra type r one and the console, but the thing is that the console doesn't match up with the part that comes down from the radio so i'm going to have a piece specially made and maybe put a small t.v screen in it. I wanna know if the back seats(where your back rests on) from the type r will bolt on or will i have to make any modifications to it. i'll try to get some pics up.

nope they do no fit. the part you sit on is to small and there are gaps on the sides and the back part of the seat is to big to fit in there unless you take out the panel.

man that looks good i want to that.

This problem will soon be remedied after I install my new motor. I plan on relocating the bolt position and then filling all gaps in with foam wrapped in vinyl of the same color so it matches the seats. I'll show pics after I do them.
