A performance shop is going to be opening up in my town and I spoke with the guy who is running it. I asked about getting the c/f hood and he said if i got five people who wanted it he could have it made. He just got done getting the hoods made for the Ford Probe and all he needs is the demand. So, if any five people are serious let me know, send your email address and i'll see if I can get the guy to contact you with the info.

What's the price? Most places want 10 people at about $500 each. I would like to get it for cheaper. Also, does he use fiberglass for the underhood support? If he doesn't utilize the hood latch I'm not interested.

Hello,
I have a shop in AZ that is trying to do a group deal on the hoods for all the Fiber Images hoods. Go to the website and check out the applications. Must be paid for in advance. He is looking to do the group deal by the end of January 2002. Let me know those of you that are serious and I will pass on the info for pricing and such.... expect to be around $400.00 plus freight.

I'll talk to my guy after I get at least 5 e-mail addresses. This is not like you're signing your soul over or anything. If anyone want to get the c/f hood for their p10, just leave your e-mail and i'll see what i can do. I'm not asking for credit card information i'm just trying to hook everybody up!

Hey guys, I am the shop selling these hoods. I have emailed 7 of you so far. The hoods are selling for $450 which is a good price for a custom ordered cf hood. They are very good quality and this company has been making hoods for a long time and knows their shit. I would have gone through fiber images but about 1 out 5 hoods from there comes damaged and good luck calling the company when you have a problem. ALso they take longer due to because they are backed up so it will take a long time. All we need is 5 guys who pay in full and we are good to go. The shipping is by truck and costs $130 to a business address. Any shops out there i have dealer pricing and will drop ship. The hoods use the stock latches, mounting points and stcok style bracing. They are not available in colored cf but can be candy painted for an additional $125 if interested. Please let me know if you have any questions and Get your money in as soon as possible so we can have them start on the hoods as soon as possible.
Thanks,
Nick

How soon does everyone plan to get their money in. I have to buy a few more things for HIN before I can buy the hood. I am now interested due to the fact that it uses the stock hood latches (thanks you for the reply). I'll see what I can figure out, but I'm definitely interested. BTW, my e-mail is [email protected] Thanks.

How are you making a mold for the hood? My hood is already prepped to be used for a mold, that's why I ask, the windshield washer head have been removed and filled, the weatherstripping has been removed, etc... Just curious.

If this goes over well there may be some P11 owners looking to do the same.
There's a CF hood for P11's by Fiber Images but the only one I've seen could not use the stock latch because they built the hoods incorrectly. I'm not sure if they ever corrected the problem, but I dont want to take the chance and be stuck w/ using hood pins. :(

Hey guys, yeah tahts why we chose to not use fiber images. We researched many companies and we came across a lot of problems and bad stories about the company. I can have custom cf hoods made for any vehicle as long as you get me atleast 5 hoods for the first order.
Send in yor money guys (and gals) as soon as possible so we can have the first order started.
Thanks,
Nick

Hey from what it lookds like I have one paid pretty much he is dropping off the money. I am talking to Justin now and hopefully we will be using his hood and he will buy one so that will be two. A couple others of you have emailed me and seem interested so hopefully you will come througha nd we will have the money shortly. If you miss this first order you may order one at a time then. But order on this one cause we need to five to have the mold made.

How long does it take to have these made. I'm looking to make an early April deadline. I'd like to have one regardless, but would like to have it before the show.
streetlife
01-09-2002, 11:23 PM
OK well heres the deal on how long, and yes you will have these for show time. After we get the money. It will take a week to two weeks for the mold to be made. After the mold is made then we will be able to have around 1 a day made. So if we have 5 in the firsto order then you are looking at about 2 to 3 weeks after the 5th guy pays. We have two pretty defiantes so we are close. We have about 8 serious but not defs. So get your money in so we can add you to the list. And if we dont get 5 then you will get full return and move on but the 5 number should not be hard to hit. Oh and shipping will take about a week to get to a business address.
Thanks,
Nick

Dont forget....
Even if you're not into the whole carbon fiber hood look... you can paint the hood to match your car and still see the benefit of saving some BIG weight!
I may do that when I get one for my P11 ;)

I can think of 3 (including me) that want one. We were looking into the FI hoods awhile back but didnt want to go through because of the problems I mentioned.
Getting 2 more people will not be a problem I'm sure. But I will have to hold off for a bit, all my money is going towards my turbo right now ;)

acutally its about a 13 lbs savings, hell a sub box weighs at least that much, and why paint it? Have you picked up a gallon of paint these days? Unecessary weight added if you ask me...

Its an option if you want to save weight but dont want the carbon fiber hood look. BTW painting a hood wouldnt even take a quarter pint of paint. ...I suppose drag cars should strip all their paint to save weight? :D :)

For the P11 CF hoods: I'd be interested in a P11 CF hood! I just have some questions about CF hoods...will the hood have the exact same mounting brackets for our hood grill just in case we want to change the grill? How is the surface protected? Is it clear-coated like our paint...so if you drive on the freeway a lot, it'll be prone to rock chips? Will the hood be readily interchangeable with our stock hood, just in case you dont want to use it all the time? I heard when people look for CF hoods they check out the edges...good quality edges will be smoothed out. I dunno if thats really true or not but i have seen some CF hoods with crappy edges - the look like you can peel the layers off 'em. ok, im done :D :D

It seems to me you guys are buying a product without specification. Let alone the competency of this individual and the recognition of his company. Where is the technical specs? How will you know that the c/f hood will be compatible with P11 or P10? Someone mentioned about the problem with the latch. Is there a picture with technical specification of this product? I wouldn't want to my money down unless I see these.
Just a thought.....
P.S. Carbon Fiber processing is no mickey-mouse sh*t.
Just another thought....but do let us know that things fit like a key!
cheers

I believe the problem with the latch was on a Fiber Images hood. I was told that we were running the deal with another company and also I paid my money to someone who runs a shop in my home town so it will not be hard to communicate with him about what is going on. If worst comes to worst you get your money back.
