I think most know my stance on ALL forms of street racing.

All I gotta say is that I saw the other evening outside of a Japanese Restaurant an Nissan Altima with a collage of racing stickers on it. By the looks of it, the guy must have handed his stickers to his kid brother and sister, and said, "now stick them where ever you like." From the look of the car, it appeared that the guy changed out the exhaust, tires, and wheels.

SO I decided to walk over and look inside. This guy did this to an automatic. What a waste!

Folks are just dumb these days!

If you don't know what you're doing, please seek an education. And please don't pretend. I hate folks that talk shit and have no clue. Fortunately, at work, I have the opportunity to lay these folks off. Unfortunately, these are the folks that cause accidents.

hmm...i guess ill take a different stance...

ya see, this is good, because the more kids we can pack into one car...the more efficiently they will be, shall we say, rid from the road.

Sure, it makes absolutely no sense to slow your ride down, but other than that, i didnt see any rice or anything like that, so i dont see too much of a problem in these pics. Theyre just dumb, but oh well.

If I am going to take the risk, and street race. I am only going to put one person at risk. That one person would be me. I don't want to have to worry about 4 other people.

this is what happens all over the country so it's not surprising at all... here in vegas there was almost a head on collision with the cops ... and they were racing on such a narrow road that there was no place to turn... just hit the curb and fall all over the dusty and rocky desert....

and it doesn't matter what you do... as long as you race on the road, you put other people in danger unless you're the only on the whole stretch of road. cars flip, drivers loose control, unsuspecting things happen.... thats just the way it is.

tweaker76

Fortunately, track owners realize that kids are doing this and have decided to open their tracks to kids to race. This is a very, very good thing that folks should take advantage of.

that is so stupid, like oh my god! Please cut the fucking shit! Im pretty sure that all of yall have done some stupid things in live as well. Maybe it would be stupid if the kids were taking the race serious, but i dont think any race is serious that includes a chevy blazer! And tweak maybe you should do some research yourself. Everyone has this image that standards are the only cars that can race, not so. Unless you can shift faster than an automatic, and never miss a gear, then yeah a standard is better. And im not talking about a regular grandma automatic either. Im talking about shift kits and torque converters. I agree stickers are pretty stupid.

Ok, the first pic was just dumb on their parts. the second, is the dude in the SUV a MORON?!? Come on man! The trucks, well, that's common here, so I'm used to it. I'll run them BOTH in my POWER WHEELS Barbie Lamborgini!! lol :)

tweaker76
12-09-2001, 01:58 PM
I wasn't talking about shifting faster. I was concerned over the weight of the automatic. Isn't the idea to reduce the weight of the car as much as is legally possible for race division you're in? Isn't this why folks put lighter parts on their cars?

And if automatics were so good, I would expect to see them used competitively. It's the same argument for FWD and RWD. I don't see any NASCARS that are FWD.

You guys have to be taking the piss.
Sure its stupid to race with that many people in the car.
But they are having a bit of fun. If they were serious, they would do it properly.
And as for racing with an SUV, I'd love to have my ass handed to me by a WRX that was going for it. How often do you get to see one of those things really nailing it off the line ? Sounds like "FUN" to me.

Yeah man, thats what im sayin. Its all bout the cars.

When youre all uptight serious and doing everything you can to win, youre too focused and dont notice stuff, or maybe take unnecessary risks to grab that extra car length. They just seem to be having fun, nobodys bein too serious about it, and id race a wrx in an suv too, just to see how bad it would spank me. Nothin wrong with it to me, wanna thread about "whats wrong with streetracing today" ill give ya some pictures of cars wrapped around poles and other cars in big crowded areas in the post-TFATF age we are, or were, starting to see.

actually, in competitive drag racing, automatics are used almost exclusively for their quick shifts, no missed gears, and resulting consistency. on the 1/4 mile, a magazine (it was either Hot Rod or Car Craft) took 2 camaros with the exact same engine, options, gearing, and tuning. the only difference was thatone had a 4 speed, and the other had a TH-350 automatic. the same professional driver drove both cars to maintain the consistency. the automatic was consistently about a few hundredths faster than the manual. basically an automatic with a shift kit and performance torque converter is better for serious racing unless you can shift quicker and more accurately than an automatic. NASCAR is a different story, however.

Here's the thing, I work in environment where winning is all that matters. Naturally, I carry this over. I also work in an environment where you have take what others say with a grain of salt. I have to confirm everything or less my word is on-the-line.

Do I think street racing is wrong? Nope. Do I think there are alot of bad drivers out there? Definitely. Do I think DemonZX should have a license? Hell no! Unless, of course, he is joking.

Basic driving school covers accident avoidance. I honestly cannot take seriously any comments from someone regarding driving who just was at-fault in an accident.

FastrThanU, what circuits use automatics? I'm pretty sure that IDRC doesn't. Help me out here.

Hey, AEstud, it's cynical. And being cynical isn't a bad thing. But I think you are taking that shit way too seriously. It's just some people having some fun. Hell if I had a Toyota Tacoma, I'd be lining up against rangers and S-10's all the time. It's all in the fun. If that's what they want to do, then so be it, we shouldn't be patronizing them because they aren't serious.

Wow, I forget bout a thread, and come back to all this. :)

You say you will post pictures of cars wrapped around trees? Have at it. Chances are, there would maybe be one person in that car. Not a carload. Having a carload of people, while racing down the road, is plain stupid. It shows the lack of judgment on the drivers part. What if he was to wrap his nice little scooby around a pole. That communitiy now has to plan a funeral for five kids, rather than one. Am I saying don't street race? No, I can't, because I do it myself. But if you're going to do it, show some judgment, care enough about your friends to not pack them up in the car with you. You never know what will happen.

And there is nothing more fun than messing around with a 2800LB car, with another 700LBS of human weight, along a crowded street. This is the type of racing that ruins it for the rest of us.

NismoDrifts
12-13-2001, 06:22 PM
Yeah, i get that about not endangering the lives of others. Kb, my point was that you see a lot more racing down crowded city roads than people packed in cars, and crowded city racing is much more dangerous and irresponsible...packing people into cars (on what is apparently a clear road if they can line the cars up like that) is irresponsible as well, but its, i dunno, not as bad.

I do, however, disagree with the statement that it ruins it for the rest of us. Unless youre racing with that crowd, its not ruining anything for you

Knail000
12-13-2001, 11:59 PM
Sure it may be fun and all to them, thats great, but street racing is street racing and its dangerous. You cant use the "its fun to them" arguement to defend them, its plain stupid to endanger the lives of other people.

Because when a carload of kids wrecks, and kills them all. The media, and the police, go on a import feeding frenzie. Where, if it is just one person who happens to die, they tend not act upon it the same way.

Endangering your life as well as the lives of others is just something that comes with the territory of street racing. You have to remember not to feel sorry for the people in the car because they were stupid enough to hop on board for a race in the first place. A lot of the things people do are stupid, but they do it anyway. It's just part of the contradiction that IS human nature.
