Revell 1/24 Enzo in progress

What happened to the yellow Enzo, you ask? Well, I move to the U.S., and everything's still packed in Japan. An estimated international moving cost was $9000, so I gave up on the furniture, and decided to ship my kits by surface instead.
Anyway, I got a good deal on Revell Enzo here in the U.S., so I started it.
Here's partially built engine parts. Some parts still have to be painted, but these are almost all parts that goes in the engine room. It's just as detailed as Tamiya.

This is the test fit of the engine parts.

Here's the front of the Revell Kit.

The body is primed and painted in black, using Tamiya spray Gloss Black, and it's drying in the garage now.

Very good job. Sometimes I wanna build a "Enzo-Le Mans Phantom Racer". The Enzo will race next year in LM labeled as a Maserati. The Race car is in testing and there are some blury pics on the web.

I just started this kit as well. You're a little farther along than me.
Have you test fitted the wheels and tires?
The picture on the front of the instructions makes it look like it's going to sit high in the front.
Could you test fit the front wheels/tires and take a pic?
I'd love to see if it needs a lowering job before i start the front suspension.

Yes, test fit of the suspension is always recommended regardless of the brand.
And as you said, the front of the Revell Enzo sits way too high, and lowering is a must.
I corrected this problem by carefully bending the upper and lower A-arms as shown. (If you break the part in this process, just drill holes, and insert a brass rod.)
http://files.automotiveforums.com/uploads/561303P8090039.jpg
Also, you have to modify the push rod. (You can cut it short, instead of filing the tip.)
http://files.automotiveforums.com/uploads/656649P8090040.jpg
Now the front sits fairly low. (notice the minimal gap between the wheel arch and tire.)

Yes, it's posable.
http://files.automotiveforums.com/uploads/485042p8220089m.jpg
I applied the first coat of body color and sanded to check for any imperfections.
As expected, there is a shallow sink mark on the engine cover, which should have been eliminated before painting.
http://files.automotiveforums.com/uploads/893357p8220084m.jpg
Also, the right side door has vertical sink mark, which also should have been smoothed. For those who are going to make the Revell Enzo, pay attention to these areas before applying the body color.
http://files.automotiveforums.com/uploads/927471p8220087m.jpg
Since the marks are so shallow, that a few coats of paint and sanding should be able to take care of it.

At least not with this Enzo kit.
It's redundant to my photos in FAQ, but anyway, I started polishing the body.
This is how the Tamiya spray surface look like. (no, I don't get p-man shine.)
http://www.asahi-net.or.jp/~xr2h-fkd/temp/0828af/p8250104m.jpg
Next, I used Tamiya finishing paper 2000 grit and smoothed the surrface.
http://www.asahi-net.or.jp/~xr2h-fkd/temp/0828af/p8250105m.jpg
After orange peel was gone, and the surface became uniformly hazy, I wet sanded the surface with Detail Master mesh abrasive 4000 grit, all the way up to 12000 grit.
http://www.asahi-net.or.jp/~xr2h-fkd/temp/0828af/p8250106m.jpg
Once obvious scratches are gone, I used Meguiar's scratch X, and finished the surface with Zymol car wax. (both are safe to use on Tamiya spray)
http://www.asahi-net.or.jp/~xr2h-fkd/temp/0828af/p8250107m.jpg
Now, I've got to polish the rest.

:) Sorry to disappoint you, but I have both yellow and red on the plan.
A currently in-progress yellow model is Tamiya + S27 detail kit, so it's gonna be a moderately detailed kit.
Red is reserved for Tamiya + Scale Motorsort super kit.
So, I asked my wife, what color she likes, and she said black. I like this Revell Germany kit so much, that I might make another one in dark metallic blue or something.

Scale Motorsport super kit and ref. CD is supposed to have everything you need to super detail the Tamiya kit. Last I heard, SM is working on the licensing issues, so that it can be sold with the Tamiya kit, just like the 956 super kit. (which means another $150 model, probably.)
I started the construction of the interior. Carbon fiber decals were applied to the center and the sides of the dashboard. Also, the back of the gauge cluster was covered with a carbon decal. The A/C nob face and center control panel were painted gloss black to create a contrast, and the A/C outlet rings were painted flat black.
http://www.asahi-net.or.jp/~xr2h-fkd/temp/0904af/p9010118.jpg
The intake chamber was also covered with a carbon fiber decal. I used Solvaset to make the decal conform to the surface.
http://www.asahi-net.or.jp/~xr2h-fkd/temp/0904af/p9020123.jpg
Here's the skeleton of the Revell Enzo kit. The sub assemblies are supposed to be glued to the chassis, but I left them unglued until all the sub assemblies are finished.

Thanks guys.
This kit went well effortlessly. There are only two problems, I should point out, one is the front height, and this can be easily fixed. Another is the very tight fit of the front section, where the ducts and the bumper meets. Without cutting the duct by 1.5 mm or so, the body won't fit the chassis, because of the thickness of the mesh sheet. This tight tolerance suggests an extensive use of CAD/CAM, and I think I can expect more from Revell Germany.
In the U.S., the kit is about $14. Using Micheal's weekly coupon, I get 40% off, and that makes it $8.40. Waiting for next Hobby Lobby sale, it can be as low as $7.00. That's a steal, in my opinion.
