just get a scanner and a few rader/laser detectors and some way to communicate to the other racers.
The cops should have somethine better to do tonight anyway.

down in Roseville, CA (near sacramento) a bunch of people would meet at the Krispy Kreme's on friday nights but now theres always like 5 pigs just sitting in their cars in the parking lot being dumb and telling people to leave....
get a police scanner, dont worry about the radar detectors they're pretty useless at racing speed, you dont have enough warning. then get a couple sets of walkie talkies to comm with the racers..

Sucks that the cops came man. In Indy, we all head to 31 to race and show off cars. It's usually pretty safe, but there are stupid people, and stupid people ruin things for everyone. Street racing will never die. Allowing street racers to race at a track is a good idea, but it's just not open enough  If cops wanna keep things safe, they need to supervise races. I've heard of this being done around the US. A few cops, an EMT, and a closed off strip. That's all that's needed IMO

Yeah I wonder why......
What were you thinking posting the exact address, time, and place on a forum like this? That was just plain stupid. There are thousands of members here and obviously you just found out one of them has to be a cop.

Any type of street racing where you have a large group of people show up is not gonna be safe. Somebody is always gonna be an asshat and try to show off or do something else dumb. Always. I learned this back in the day, when I used to go every weekend.
Here's a scenario for ya, somebody thinks they can drive well, but a cat runs across the street in front of them, they panic and swerve and sideswipe the car they were racing. That car gets thrown into a telephone pole and the driver dies. All you were doing was standing there. Guess what, you WILL have criminal charges brought against you, and can go to federal-pound-me-in-the-ass prison for a long time. All because a cat ran across the road, something nobody could have possibly seen coming. Is it worth risking going to prison, when you could have easily gone to a track and raced legally?
Or even less serious, say nobody gets hurt, but the cops show up and impound your car. Now you insurance rates are through the roof, you're real close to losing your license, you have to pay to get your car out of impound, and from now on the cops will focus attention on you as a known street racer. Was that worth it, when you could have just gone to a track?
The track is better anyways. There are always faster cars at the track than the street. You learn more and become a better driver at the track, by examining your RT, 60', trap speed, etc. What "feels" faster is not always faster. There is no substitute for being on a track where you can actually see what works and what doesn't
I'm not perfect, I will do a little stoplight blast against other cars every so often. But when I do I only race up to the speed limit and quit. On the freeway I don't really "race" anyone, just play a little cat and mouse. 95% of the time if somebody tries to race me I'll just keep driving normally and ignore them, if they keep it up I'll either give them a big sarcastic thumbs up or roll my window down and ask if they live their life a 1/4 mile at a time. I have nothing to prove to them, why should I have to prove to every asshat that comes along that my car is faster?

so so so true man, it just takes one incident and it is all over, to my knowledge there is 0 to little "organized" street racing in az, cops cracked down, people here have been shot and killed cause of beating someone in a race, street racin is stupid
a little stop light racing is ok sometimes but not every stoplight
when you get someone to race, ask yourself is it worth it?!?!?!

You can like the track all you want, there's something about cinder block gaurd rails that (and I know this may seem crazy) but it scares me a bit. Also the fact that I have to wait forever just to get on the track, and lets not forget the fee's. My friends are pretty good at crowd control and we can usually weed out the fuck off's. The tracks good for updating times, and the occational bet. But I'd rather race with a bunch of friends late at night on an abandoned mill road. Attending the track often is for ppl without college loans to pay off. I like to think of street raceing as budget cuts. :bigthumb:

lmfao!!! yeah if your going to be street racing there
please leave your address, name, liscense plate, and vehicle make/model LMFAO......
no racing is safe at all..... they just like it on the track because its closed roads and they can handle emergencies better and they usually have less of an impact on the general public......... Racing on the Street or on a Race Track is just as dangerous...... if your gonna whipe out on the street you will whipe out on the Track.

Hell yes it's more fun. I feel like some riceboy fvckoff every time I race somebody on the street. At a real track I feel more like a real racer. I see nicer cars at the track, and the drivers are more often real car enthusiasts I can enjoy talking to, not someone just into it for the "image" cuz they saw 2 fast 2 furious.

Are ricers all that have street raced over the last 100 years?
Sounds like that's what you think, but whatever man.
Street racing is more fun to me cause the adrenaline, but I don't do it a lot - once a month, if that. I COULD drive way the hell down to LACR, pay $15 to get in, go through inspection, wait in a fucking LINE, then do one race and wait in the fucking line again. I might get 7 races in on a good night... I think not sir. Street racing is on the spot, random, with no clue what's under the other guy's hood, and if you have a fast car (sub 10 seconds), you're not forced to get an NHRA licence.
Any racing is dangerous! The difference is, on the street you endanger people who aren't even involved (or cats). weather they be normal traffic or some kid walking on the sidewalk, our (yes "our" cause we all do it!) search for the next thrill endangers them all. So if you're going to do it, you better do it with no one else around.
Yeah, it's stupid, but maybe that's half the fun. I'm not some Fast and Furious asshole that goes out and races the night he sees a stupid movie cause I got inspired by the movie. Hell, I don't even like that movie! I'll do it cause it's fun. It's not the times, it's not pop culture, it's instinct - the desire to be faster/better than the other guy. THAT'S why street racing will never die!
Anyway DggyStyl, sorry your deal got wrecked by the cops man.
Next time, post in here that you'll be meeting at the local gay bar.
So that way the cops walk in right, and some dude in leather named Bubba takes it out on their asses... :bigthumb:
To all you cops that do help by giving us places to race, Thank You.

can u seriously say that being at the track is more fun?
I can seriously say that the track is a lot more fun. It's not just the races its the friendly people that will come around and bs with ya. I think its fun also racing the really high powered cars, seeing them blow by you so fast is just like.....woah that was insane. Yes it does cost money, its $25 bucks a person to race at Old Dominion, but whoever said racing was cheap? I didn't mind waiting in line either.
there's something about cinder block gaurd rails that (and I know this may seem crazy) but it scares me a bit
I think I see what you mean. If you can get a road that isn't surrounded by trees or anything, if you lose control of your car at least you will run off the road into the grass or dirt, hopefully not hurting it that bad. But you lose control at a drag strip and hit those rails, well uh, gameover you gotta spend a pretty penny to fix your car.
Devil - ya...that was stupid for postin that shit on here...but if the cops came all u have 2 do is say we are showin off our cars. personal car show.
Regardless though if they read what you post on here they won't believe that and will try and break you all up anyhow. Or at least try and bust people for insiginificant things like illegal taillights, bulbs, neons, or what have you.

To all the fucking pigs reading this waiting to bust someone's ass to meet a quota: :thefinger
ALL I HAVE TO SAY IS U ARE SO FUCKING RIGHT!
STREET RACING FOREVER

I didn't care to catch any names of the people who are all for it but seriously now... Do you really think you're something special because you can drive up and down a street? At least on the track you can get these things called timeslips... maybe you've heard of them in between your talks about how Hondas rool? These timeslips (say it with me now) actually prove you're better than the next guy. And no matter how 'good' you think you are: you're not. It takes weeks, months and/or years of professional training to be 'good'. Driving back and forth to your job as a waitress at Red Lobster does not make you some sort of street god.
I had a very good friend in KC that thought he was good with his Toyota Supra. Then he hit a pothole in the road no wider than a foot, lost control of his car and flipped it. It essentially shattered, throwing debris through half a dozen hard working people's businesses, causing over $60,000 worth of damage, annhilating is $40,000 heavily modified car and killing 2 people, including him.

Try upping the stakes. What if some little girl who couldn't sleep and decided to go out and play ran into the middle of the road. Would you run that fucker over for scaring you?
You all talk about 'instinct', 'searching for the thrill', 'on the spot' and all your bullshit. The only person who's got an actual decent point is DblOvrhedCamron, as usual. How old are you all? 16? 15? Because you're acting like it. You really think the track is gay, huh? Yea having professional licensed medical staff on hand to try to keep you alive if you hit a wall doing 90 is gay. Yea knowing your Actual quarter time and REAL stats is gay. Yup, getting to talk on as near of a professional level as you can get about cars with those actual, non-poser enthusiasts is gay too, isn't it? And it's really GAY how they have people there to run out after races and get chunks that fly off the cars that could be very hazardous. Damn, it's just plain gay how they have a big long straight strip of real concrete very finely, accurately, and precisely made ESPECIALLY and ONLY for racing. And finally it's just so fucking GAY how they have those walls up to protect anybody who could be watching so if you do wreck they can minimize the people hurt. I mean that's just plain gay! When you're street racing you've already got all those buildings or houses or trees on either side to stop you, right?
...See in case you hadn't noticed the people around here, with the exception of a very few learn from each other and grow as people who are enthusiastic about cars and like to talk about them. We grow from eaach others high standards. I know I have. See the people around here don't mimic movies and trends. There's a difference between enthusiasts and posers. Don't be the little brother pulling on the big brother's pant leg saying "I wanna pway too guys!" We don't like to tolerate the people who live their lives a quarter mile at a time and we especially don't like to tolerate the people who carry ridiculous, distorted views about cars and driving that could put others in danger because of their pittiful desire to be like what they see on TV. It's been displayed over and over and over and over again in dozens of threads. Maybe that should tell you something? YOU are what give US a bad name. Ok, WHO THE HELL SAID THAT RICE IS ALL THAT STREET RACES !!!
WTF man? Yes rice is all that street races,,, IN THE MOVIES!
Yeah I drive an integra, but it's my daily driver and it's what I got for now. The people I hang with are not rice though man:
76 Trans Am with a crate 502 motor making ~450 rwhp, another friend building his 67 stang into which he'll be placing a 427 ford motor that's supposed to crank 700 hp, there's a dude with a modded 2001 Mustang GT who runs low 12s (AT THE TRACK!), Another mustang guy (think his is an 82 with the 5.0) who is at LACR quite often, A guy with a 300zx TT thats stock, and finally a guy driving a Dodge DT truck.
None of us is younger than 19, and three of us are older than 30.
The people who don't go with us are people like my best friend who I know would be inclined to do something stupid in his 94 firebird.
When we do get out to do our thing - and like it said it's not often, like once a month if that, and thus far it's been three months - we get where there is not another person or man made object (with exception to the road) for miles. Lancaster CA has vast sections of land where there aren't even Joshua trees to the North, East and West, and the roads on many of them are quite newly resurfaced. But remember I said it's been quite a while since we've done anything, so it ain't regular.
Sorry to hear about your friend man, but that was stupid of him. Please take that as unoffensivly as you can cause I am truly sorry to hear that.
The few times I have been at a light, and done it with some who guy I didn't know, it's only been to the speed limit (which out here is usually about 60 MPH on all roads), cause by that time I've either gotten ahead of him or had my ass handed to me. And once again, there has never been anyone around but us (and no buildings).
I don't know why everyone thinks that movies like Fast and Furious started the whole street racing thing. That movie is not the cause, it's the result. It came about cause Hollywood knew that could make money by glorifying street racing and ricers. After that, you get the posers and the "Rice boy fuckoffs."
Here's the deal Cyprus,
What you said is very true, except the the idea that rice is all that street races and anyone that ever street races must be a rice boy poser.
And dude, I read it, thought about it, and I'll remember it and think about it again. I'm not blowing you off at all.
Having said that, it is hard to respect anything anyone says when they've got little comments like:
"Instinct this you little faggots."
If you don't want to start a flame war, leave that shit out next time.
And the last time I had a difference of opinion with someone, I didn't call them gay half a million times.
Now let me end this post by saying again, I read it, thought about it, and I'll remember it and think about it again. I'm not blowing you off at all.
Now calm down.

:) I was hoping nobody would notice that. I was actually referring to flaming individuals.
Yes, it was my friends fault. Yes he sohuld have known not to but yea, it was stupid of him. That was essentially the point. It just goes to show there's a thousand things that could be unexpected. True, that goes for any driving peroid but it's more dangerous at faster speeds and the track at least covers all the angles they possibly can.
I wasn't really referring to you, LancasterWannaBe. But your point is well taken. We all do the occasional red light race I'm sure... But what I'm talking about is when people gather on populated urban streets and burn out, try doughnuts and do essentially showoff bitchass shit. Sure racing in the damn middle of nowhere is great. But there's always that chance that a car could come along or a rabbit could jump in the road... who knows. Middle of nowhere, no kids, no houses, no cars... I think I can live with that.
And the FATF bullshit is for all the people with stock cars and giant APC wings, fart cans and 'H' stickers. You have 3 or 4 actual enthusiasts and then a hundred wannabes in anything from Ford Escorts to Plymouth Dusters. And you have to admit, the wannabe rice level jumped exponentially after that godforsaken movie came out. It was actually for the most part serious before hollywoods shitstorm.

You like that dont you. It is probably the funniest thing I have ever read on AF, seeing how it was complete bullshit. Then when I saw that someone else had a "Yenko Corvair" or whatever he claims it was I knew it was that same jackass.

I only read the 1st page of the turbo help thread, but that was pretty lame. I don't get my parts from stealing or drug money. It's called a job. That guy should try it.

first off, why did you post in this thread. It was long dead. Second DkShadow drives a mustang. Read the 14 things above the picture and you can pretty much figure out he is making fun of chevys.
