Warning: aftermarket fuel pump inlet screen
FOR 1997 MODELS ..(perhaps others). Both AutoZone and AdvanceAuto offer Airtex #FS140 as a direct replacement.
And it may work well if you also buy the Airtex replacement pump motor ... or the entire Airtex pump/sender assembly ...but it does not work well with the original Ford pump motor. I had to do some major rework to get it to stay in place ... so many finger marks the filter no longer looks very new. But the filter media looks very good .... but the attachment gizmo is lame. |

Re: Warning: aftermarket fuel pump inlet screen
On a '94/'95 Escort (and possibly others) I recommend hanging on to and possibly reusing the original stiff rubber gasket that seals around the tank for the fuel pump. The replacement I used had me leaving a trail of fuel all the way down the street after a fill-up. Once I got back, drained-off a little of the fuel then ended-up replacing the new with the original.
