1994 Prizm acceleration problem?
Hi, I was driving my 1994 Prizm when I came to a stop it died. It started back up and as I tried to accelerate it hesitated and died again. Started it again and with the car in park tried to rev the motor up and it would not rev and proceeded to die again. The car was running fine before all this and now I notice that any kind of pressing on the gas makes it die. It runs good when it's up to 55, but you can still feel a bit of hesitation. I was wondering if it could be that the fuel filter is clogged? It looks rather old and rusty.

Re: 1994 Prizm acceleration problem?
Hello, I changed the fuel filter and still had the problem. Decided to take it to the repair shop. It turned out to be the throttle position sensor. So if any of you have the similar problem, check to see if this it. The sensor cost me $100, but it was worth it.

Re: 1994 Prizm acceleration problem?
Just an update, the stalling continued even after I replaced the sensor. Took it to the dealership and they had no idea of what it could be. Turned out to be the ignition coil inside the distributor cap. It would get warm, overheat the coil and stall. Changed the coil and now no stalling at all. Now I can keep the car.
