94 park av ultra p1640 QDM error

Hello, I'm working with a 1994 Buick Park Avenue Ultra 3.8 supercharged. Problem is surges above 3300 rpm runs and drives excellent under 3300. I pulled codes with an otc Genisys,good tool. codes as P1640 QDM error. Possible evap-boost control- pcm wiring.??? What do you think???

PCM QD 1-high voltage, more than likely the solenoid that the quad driver controls, or the PCM itself. 94-95 PCM's are known to develop QD problems. In addition, be sure to check the wiring.

Thank you. I am going to get the wiring diagram from alldata today. I hope it shows the qdm for this, I understand these are lousy.

Dear HotZ28: You might recognize I am the guy that killed his friend's 94 PA ultra with SC. I am curious as to what the Quar Driver Control or QDM is and what is its function and where is it located?
Took care of a lot of III MAF Marines up in Da Nang in 69. Were you there?

The Quad Drivers are located within the PCM. They serve as a ground relay to ground misc solenoids. A quad driver is a series of four drivers and can handle up to four outputs.

Served in RVN 1966-68 with 1st. Force Recon Co. USMC. "All gave some, some gave all" - Hue Tet Offensive, Khe Sahn, Dodge City-Danang, Bien Hoa - Yea though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I feared no evil, cause I was the meanest SOB in the valley! Rotated back to the real world in late 68!
