2002 Protege5
Hey Guys,
First time buying a car, so may be newbie questions. Firstly, I was told by the car salesman (who doesnt usually sell Mazdas) that it is a safety mechanisim that makes it so I cannot lock/unlock my car with the remote while the car is running, is this true, and is there a way to turn it off? Also, my command start will not work, I have tried the obvious switch it tells me to use, and tried checking the fuse box, but no joy. I think it may be the remote. any suggestions on that? In short, I would like keyless access while the car is running (if possible) and command start to work. (I live in Yellowknife, where the winters go to -50, so all of the above are a nice bonus.. |

Re: 2002 Protege5
Command start starters aren't the best units to have. Do you have the install manual? What did it tell you to do for trouble shooting? Most Foreign cars are set up to shut down the keyless when running. Not sure why they do that and no, there's no way to turn that feature off. If you have the keyless entry from the Command start hooked up it should still operate the keyless entry though.

Re: 2002 Protege5
You've got me confused. I am trying to help you with the remote start. Do you have OEM remotes or Command start remotes????
