1997 Blows #10 Fuse..Loses Dash, Headlights, Etc.

We have a 1997 Blazer. The #4 10 fuse blows. It has 13 different control functions if I remember right.
Mechanic has looked at it repeatedly (thankfully at no charge, yet).
He has disconnected the 4wd, did not work. Fuse still blew
He has disconnected the airbags, did not work. Fuse still blew.
Does anyone have any ideas what might be causing this.
Last year it started stalling. The following below were changed. Was going to change the ignition switch, but found out it was the fuel pump.
Coil pack was changed.
Fuel pump was changed. The fuel gauge keeps hanging up at 1/2 a tank now.
One of the gears in the transmission was also changed.
The key does get stuck every now and then. It will not dis-engage from the ignition. Then all of a sudden it will release a couple to a few days later.
It did comepletly stall out 3 weeks ago on the way to the garage. It was re-started with a quick start charge.
It is blowing up to 5 fuses a day. It is going to a fortune in fuses in the long run.
It is getting quite nerve racking.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you.

Re: 1997 Blows #10 Fuse..Loses Dash, Headlights, Etc.

On a 4.3 V6 .
Fuse 10 20 amp fuse feeds 4 circuits.
CPS sensor electronic spark control
All injectors.
And VCM/computer.

Willigle and check wiring on these circuits and check amp draw on that fuse circuit.

If you can not find which circuit is blowing.
At fuse 10 feed to the circuits Rewire each circuit with a 15 amp inline fuse and see which fuse blows.
That will point you to the right circiuit.
Good luck

My bad on that post. It is actually the #4 10 fuse that blows.
All the other things in the post are accurate

Re: 1997 Blows #10 Fuse..Loses Dash, Headlights, Etc.

OH my.
You are right it has about 13 things feeding off of it.
Sounds like you have the list.
Is all of them working right?
Sometimes the one not workig is the one.
Unless you can get it to blow by using one of them or wiggling/taping them and the wires to them.
It is start unplugging untill you find it.
A amp meter draw reading on each one may help find it.
Good luck.
And let us know how it goes.

Thank you.

The key sticking is a faulty solenoid that sit's behing the key barrel.
On the underside of the sterring whee cover, you'll see a small (3/8" round) cap. remove the cap next time the key sticks, and push a skinny screw driver up the hole. If the key comes out, it's time to replace, or remove the solenoid.

Re: 1997 Blows #10 Fuse..Loses Dash, Headlights, Etc.

I was riding the Blazer yesterday and noticed that the fuse #4 fuse blew everytime there there was a 90 degree turn, or somewhat like that.
Is it possible the short is in the steering column or ignition?
I don't know what the #4 would control in the steering column, but that was the only time we blew a fuse was on a turn.
Thanks again.

The only thing I can find close is the front axel 4W indicator switch.
You might look at the wiring on front axel and 4W indiacter switch.
Good Luck
