Automatic to Manual Trans Conversion

Does anybody know if it is possible to swap an automatic for a manual transmission in a 1996 K1500?

I love my truck but the automatic trans (which has already been rebuilt once) is giving me problems again. I'd much rather have a manual because they're better on gas, easier to work on, etc.
