SHAKE & RATTLE any1??

hey guys... im purty sure alot of you guys have that rattling sound in the back.. im guessing 95 and up?? well im hopeing alot of you guys have had it and solved it some how easly. its just when your driveing on the highway and the pavement is not perfect but your back side (sound like it could be the trunk if not something in that area) rattles and it gets anoying. i have 2 other friends with a 95 s14 and they all rattle too just wondering if anyone else had that problem and knew exactly where its comeing from. they both think its the spoiler but its stock and it feels tight. one of they took the spoiler off and it still rattles. my trunk feels tight i dont know what else it could be AHAHAHHAAHHHH!!!!... thankx all!!!

if you look by where the back speakers are in the trunk. there are 2 crossmembers that are made of thin steel. when you hit a bump, the members hits each other and makes a clanking sound. what i did was i just took a towel, and wrapped it inbetween the steel rods, and it went away. and by the way, how do you like hte interior of your S14 compared to your SE-R?

I LOVE THE INTERIOR OF my s14!!!! its leather!! gota love it exept my GF burned her ass yesterday sitting in it hehe. hot day in sunny cali but my interior is clean almost new just the last owner did a very bad job in takeing care of the leather. and the back seats the top atleast is all crusty and burnt :cry: other then that its perfect no room in the back at all HAHAHAHAHAH!!!! but just the way i like it. but thanks again TatII ill try that once i get off work which is in like 15 minuts hope it works!!!!!:shocked: :shocked:

Ok i found those cross members you were talking about i fixed it so it wont tap each other. there was already a plastic peace there that was supose to clip to each other so it wont tap, but it was loose i put it back togetter. now the tapping is gone but there is still a rattle or some sort this sux but thakx still TatII it fixed the most noticable noise just have to find the other thing makeing the rattle hummmm?!?!?!?!?!?!

if its still from the trunk then i don't know anymore. heh i have a few questions about the SE-R. you said you love the interior but how does it compare to the SE-R? i mean like the way it looks, the placement of the shifter, pedals, gauges etc? i love the way the SE-R's interior looks in the mag's but never really got a chance to sit in it. so i want to see how the S14's ergonomics compare to it. also how does it pull? is the SE-R noticablly faster?

truth is the Spec-V is quicker but also a noticable trq steer like many have said but not horrible just alil. the vlsd helps alot i supose. but i like the seats in the s14 alot more then the Spec-V. also because of the fact that the s14 is a coupe there is alot more room up front then was the Spec-V. i do miss the back seats but thats what my MAX is for heh i remember the Spec-V pulling alot harder on every gear and all through the RPM low to mid no problem. the gears on the Spec felt closer and tighter too every gear shifted in to very nicely and snug like it belongs there, the s14 is alil looser not as percise. maby my s14 is alil old so first is weak and second is weak till mid rpms. i like the feel of the peddles and the shifter on the spec-V alil more but thats because it was brand new i supose. alil work on mine would be nice... just alil also nothing can ever replace the 6speed :cry: :cry: unless i do a S15 swap HAHAHAH like thats gona happond :cry: :cry: well i guess thats about it if i remember anything else ill repost. just the spec did pull alot harder not sure if its any faster but you did feel the trq!!!!

and THE RATTLEING IS STILL THERE!!!!!! ARGGGGGGGG!!!!!!! :help:

if you want a bolt action rifle pricise shifting action, get a B & M short shifter. that thing will give you an orgasim you combo that with a nismo shift knob and that is the best thing ever. trust me. you can get it for 60 dollars cheaper at 220.00 at www.enjukuracing.com trust me its absolutely worth the extra money

one of my friends bought a B & M short shifter and he said it was so much better, he never shut up about the damn thing so it must be good, hahaha...

ya i heard alot of good things about the B&G short shifter. just i dont have that kinda money as yet. for $220.00 thats a very good deal too bad im still paying for my MAXIMA !!! hehe but its do-able with out ATM. still first things first WHAT THE HELL IS THAT RATTLEING IN THE BACK!!!!! arggggggg

WHOO HOO im puting my speakers in my old car in to my 240 this week end i hope it all fits with out too much moding. MBquats all around baby!!!!

wait you have a 89' im not 100% sure but the 89' 240sx dosent use the KA its a diffrent engin...

What do you mean different engine?!

It has the KA24E wit the 5-speed tranny

well i had the rattleing, and i fixed it, i fixed it by unbolting the trunk latch (the one in the trunk not on the lid, and sliding it down a little and re-tightening it, but it just started happeneing again yesterday, so i did it again with no luck this time, except to find that the latch holes were stripping the bolts, so i drilled through them and just did a nut/bolt job, but still it rattles, so i have no clue where to go from here, and it was working so good more looking into it later.
