1999 keyless entry code

Just bought a 99 Taurus after trading in my old 95 Taurus, and can't find the 5 digit code. One thread said it was on top of the brake pedal, and I've looked there and can't find it. Any ideas? On my old 95, the code was in the back trunk, and easy to find, so I checked my 99 model, and there was no code there either.
TIA

Re: 1999 keyless entry code

Sometimes I have been referred to as Captain Obvious but was the owners manual in the car? If so it is on a card in that

If not it is on the module behind the brake pedal. Not on the brake pedal

Re: 1999 keyless entry code

Right, the Remote Antitheft Personality (RAP) module is located in a group of modules (depending on your options) that are located above the area where the brake and accelerator pedals are hinged. Stick your head down near the pedals and look up towards the steering column. Make sure you have a good light, and there will be a sticker with a 5-digit code on one of the modules. The sticker may be on the side of the module and you'll need the bright light to see the sticker between the RAP and the neighboring module.

If you really don't find the code, a professional scan tool can pull the 5-digit code electronically from the OBD-II diagnostic port.
