00 Town Car Cartier electrical issue

Hey all, I have an interesting problem with my car. It has no power to the things that should be powered up with the ignition off. The fuel door, truck release, door locks, keyless entry pad, interior lights, stop lights are inoperative. Anyone have a wiring schematic for one of these machines? LOL. I'm digging deep but have yet to locate the exact problem. Things such as running lights, back up lamps, turn signals, radio, sunroof, windows etc. are all working. Oh, also, high beams....inoperative. I'm feeling this has got to be a main power feed someplace that had become severed. Anyone with any input, I'm listening Thanks in advance. Rick.....

Sounds like a Power Distribution Fuse/Relay or Circuit Breaker.

I'm not intimately familiar with the 2000 models, but I can see by looking at the component location map that you have two places where these master fuses could be located.

Chilton's online has the diagrams you're looking for.

I have several Ford service manuals on my web-page, but I'm missing 1999 & 2000, sorry

I downloaded one of your factory service manuals, but it comes in as an ISO file. What does one use to view that kind of file extension?

Hey Rick...

The ISO is a CD image. What I did was burn the CD's to a single image so that I can upload them in one piece.

In a nutshell, the ISO should be burned back to a CD for use.

Here's a tutorial I put together on the subject;

Re: 00 Town Car Cartier electrical issue

Double check your fuses and relays, believe it or not the troubleshooting section and decriptions can helpful from the actual HELM manual but you should read through all the components as painful as it is. Good Luck

May the volt meter be with you!

Re: 00 Town Car Cartier electrical issue

Ok, I have this issue figured all out. Its all working as it should with the only thing being the ABS / Trac lights are on. I'll get to those later. New issue is I need a 2002 wiring diagram. Putting 2002 seat tracks / motors / heaters into a 2000 model, and need to see what all has to be done to make this happen. I did end up picking up a 2nd hand air suspension computer at a junkyard for 35 bucks....AS is now working as it should. All the everything accessory wise that was dead, I now have back to life. If anyone has that 2002 model wiring disgram, I'd really appreciate it. Thanks in advance

I have a 2000/2004 DVD, but there's not really a practical way to get that to you
The Chilton's Online service has stuff like the following, will that work?

Power Reclining Seats
a)..........
b)..........
c)..........
d)..........
e)..........
f)..........

Memory Seats
g)..........
h)..........
i)..........
j)..........

Re: 00 Town Car Cartier electrical issue

Quicky update....2002 seat frames / motors are in the car now, all the leather and such has been transferred over. The power and memory seats and power/memory mirrors are working. The only part I have failed in thus far is the heated seats, which to be honest, if they never work I really dont care. The biggest trick was converting everything electrical over, as the later model uses a different seat computer / harness, and the 2000 harnesses were trashed, no way to salvage them. The diagrams have been a great help though.
