1993 F150 doesn't go into 1st or 2nd

Driving around tonight, my 93 f150 with 164xxx on it, in walamrts parking lot, decides not to go into reverse. Ilet the cluth out, feels like it wants to stall (if I let it out, it bogged down) but it wouldnt move backwards. Shut it off, clutch out, cluth in, start, works fine... for a little while. About an hour later, of steady driving around town, it wont go into 1st or second gear after a left turn. Pull over, goes into 3rd, 4th, 5th, and reverse fine. WHeneve ryou put it in 1st or second, it makes a weird hissing/gurgling sound but you let the clutch out, it doenst move, doesnt stall, just stays steady idle. A ring right where the gear shift meets the tranny moves up down, so maybe thats lose? Notta clue here, used to FWD.
thanks!
