Question 2004 Cavalier Check Engine Problems

I have had a plroblem with my check engine light comming on for quite some time now .
I've been getting DTC P0455 Evaporative Emissions Control LEak (Large) and can't seem to find the problem. I've changed the gas cap a few times and haven't noticed any fuel odors around my car.
Just recently I also got DTC P0480 Cooling fan 1 control circuit malfunction.
I have no idea what to do for either of these problems. Any advice anyone could give would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

a 2004 cav? wow! anyhow all these cavs have these "emission" problems. mine is 0440, 0445 and some other shit....could be my vent valve or the filler in the tank, maybe i should try the gas cap.

I would get them to check the vent valve first...And make sure that your gas cap is on really tight! Thats what my problem was!

Re: 2004 Cavalier Check Engine Problems

I corrected the P0455 code on my 04 Cav by replacing the "Canister Purge Solenoid". (located on rear right side by gas tank. You'll see a hose running from the 'cannister' to the solenoid.)

(Part number PV155 from AutoZone) I think Napa has them also.

I have seen other reports that have found the 2 wire harness that connects to this Solenoid to be bad , but mine was fine, so I replaced the Solenoid itself, and the code has not returned.
