94 3.1 euro tranny problems?
Two mornings now when I've attempted to back out of the drive my lumina did not want to go into gear (any gear) and then after it warms up a bit and at about 1500 to 2000 rpms it went into gear perfectly and drove all day no trouble. The fluid is pink and does not smell burnt. Any ideas would really be appreciated. Thankyou.

Re: 94 3.1 euro tranny problems?
Not a lot of things you can do here, aside from pull the pan and hope to see a pretty dirty filter that might have been restricting flow when the fluid is cold. Otherwise it's probably going to be an issue where the trans is blowing fluid pressure off internally somewhere until the parts warm up a bit.
If it were mine, and depending on the history...I'd probably do a pan drop and filter for good measure if there was any doubt about how long the filter had been in there, and refill with a quart of KW Transeal or Seafoam Trans Conditioner substitued for a quart of ATF, and see if it improves within a couple hundred miles. If not, it's off to the tranny shop.... |
