2000 X slow shifting

I have a 2000 xterra, automatic transmission. i was wanting to know if anyone else out there has had slow shifting. lets say i floor it at maybe 5-10mph, the responce to the downshift seem pretty good, however, as soon as it is time for it to shift from 1st into second, there is about a 2 second, maybe 3 seconds until it feels like it is firmly in 2nd gear. also, it would seem that i really have to get down on it for it to downshift, as when i am going to pass someone. any help is greatly appreciated.

Not saying that your fluid condition is responsible for your issue, but when was the last time you serviced the tranny fluid?

Re: 2000 X slow shifting

I had it serviced at 68K, it now has a little over 95k. fluid level checks ok too.
thanks

Re: 2000 X slow shifting

these things weren't really made for speed or anything like that , but my xterra does the same thing, and pretty much has since off the lot, it feels a bit funny shifting from 1st into 2nd....almost as if it 'stutters' and then starts back at accelerating again, but only if you've got a lead foot. Not sure, maybe the injectors can't keep up, perhaps the air-intake isn't adequate, could be many things, I don't worry about it though, I don't feel safe going over 75 in one, these things are prone to flips you know.
