98 Beetle Stalls after 15 minutes

I have a 98 beetle and it stalls after 15 minutes of starting. It can idle for 15 minutes or driven that long and shuts off. Will restart after a couple of hours, then does the same. New fuel pump put in and didnt help. Any ideas?

Crank angle sensors do that on Holden Commodores so maybe thats the probelm. Have you had someone download the fault codes?

I dont remember the exact codes but one was intermittant speed sensor and another was fuel trim too lean, the other seemed to point to o2 sensor but that wouldnt make it stop.

Re: 98 Beetle Stalls after 15 minutes

Hey Eric... My 98 VW Does the Same thing..... Let me tell you don't waste your money on Ignition Coil, Plugs or Wires.... After spending 150.00 for all these Parts it still stalls out till it cools down.... Let me know if you got the problem solved yet.....

Thanks for the replies, and yes it was the crank angle sensor. I hope this helps out a lot of people.
