Turbocharger waterlines???
Im kinda new to forced induction, of always known about it and am just getting into doing it. I need to know if all turbochargers require the use of water cooling lines. Im looking into getting a t3/t04e turbo to put into a chrysler. Thanks for your help?.

Re: Turbocharger waterlines???
T3/T4's dont' have coolant lines (although i'm sure there is an exception). Most turbos that have coolant passages are ballbearing or huge. Also i think there are a handful of factory turbos like 14b's that are water cooled as well. You don't have to water cool the turbo if it is that big of a hassle, but it is designed to give the turbo as much life as possible.
T3/T04's like mine don't have water ports...

Re: Turbocharger waterlines???
most turbo's off stock cars have water cooling, (modern engines, ie, last 15+ years).
non-car model specific turbo's often don't have water cooling. But whether the turbo you find/like has the option or not, you don't have to use it. Its mainly to prevent coking, which is mostly a concern in the long term, ie, 100K miles. I always leave the water cooling out with my systems, but then how much heat saturation the turbo system has to deal with is another large factor...my systems rarely have a problem with it

Re: Turbocharger waterlines???
Thank you very much for your help... i was very confused. By the way i like Schister 66's signature, 10 psi of boost and a stock bottom end, very nice. I plan on running a t3/to4e on a 2.4 liter chrysler motor, probobaly around 8 pounds at max, maybe 10 if i get brave. I know you are thinking that its a damn pt cruiser that im putting it into and thats its a grandmas car, but it'll be one hell of a sleeper. Thanks alot.

Re: Turbocharger waterlines???
I'd turbo my lawn mower if I won the lottery and had the time and money to kill.
There is no such thing as a bad engine to turbo. I personally find the truly out-of-the-norm custom built turbo systems the most interesting. I like to see some germ of originality. Sure you could pick up a honda civic and turbo it.....just like every fricken body. Woopie but....there isn't much room in the engine compartment in the PT's.....just did a timing belt on one couple days ago. Talk about a royal pain in the ass. Couldn't imagine what it'll be like working on one with a turbo on it. I'd definitely spend a lot of time engineering it so it is at least easy to remove to get to the rest of the engine without too much added effort...

Re: Turbocharger waterlines???
Was there a factory Turbo option for the PT cruizer in the states?
We had one here for a little while, but it was in the RHD version, which I think was assembled in Europe?
