d15a3 Project

I need some suggestions on head swaps and what not for a d15a3 out of an 89 crx. A buddy of mine gave it to me for a dune buggy I'm making. I have the chassis built put no suspension or drive train, as I want to focus all of that around the engine's final weight and other specs. It's a SOHC non-vtec now, and I'm very good with cars as a whole, just have never ventured into Honda stuff much. Are there any good heads I can swap to, and what's all needed to switch to vtec other than the head, cams, and sollenoid? I'll be buying a header, but getting custom exhaust as it will be rear engine. I want to switch to and electronic waterpump, and we're going with an alternator that uses a reserve battery instead of the primary, and it'll be driven off of the wheels, instead of the engine. We're trying to minimize the belt driven accesories and find alternate ways of doing things. PS pump will remain belt driven, but nothing else. Just the crank, idler arm, and PS pump. Cooling system will be open air with a small radiator, PS cooler, and oil cooler. Any other suggestions or input would be VERY helpful... Thanks guys.
