Wider tires for an Element?
I have a 2003 Element with the real time 4wheel drive. Can I put a wider tire on it without changing rims or the tire rubbing? The stock tires are 225/75R16 and they look like bike tires they are so narrow. Any input would be appreciated.

Jeez, I know that the Element is like the read-headed stepchild of vehicles but doesn't anyone have a idea on this???

I run 235/50x18 Goodrich g-Force with excellent results on 18x7.5 rims. To run that width (235) on factory 7" rims you would need 235/65x16. Should work fine but I like a stiffer sidewall than the 65 tires can provide.
I understand that a 255 will clear while the weight is on the suspension but will rub while the vehicle is on the lift. On the lift, the 235's did not leave a finger's width of clearance but on the ground, they're fine.
