Speaker Grill

Hey,
I was wondering how to take the grills off of the rear mount speakers in my '96 camry. I see the norm here was to pop them off, when I tried that I think I snapped one of the corners even though I was being very careful... Are they in fact supposed to pop off or am I just going to continue breaking them? Thanks

Re: Speaker Grill

Been a while, but I believe that you have to remove the rear deck cover to get at those speakers. Pop the rear side panels off, remove the 3rd brake light (if you have one), fold down the seats and there should be 2 or 3 fasteners than you'll need to remove. Take out the bottom part of the back seat and look to either far side of the bottoms of the remaining side pieces of the top part of the back seat. There should be a bolt holding each of those in place. Remove that and lift the side parts up and out. You should be able to remove the rear deck at that point and get at the speakers. Like I said, it's been a while since I've done speakers in either my 93 or a 96, but that should be pretty close.
