Unhappy carb icing...

my 84 ranger,2wd.,2.8l., starts fine, but when i let it idle to warm up, in the now cold weather, it idles fine for a while and then starts to slow down and then stall. I looked in to the carb and it was totally iced up. is there a "carb-heater" that quit working ?

Re: carb icing...

There should be a hose on the air cleaner assy. that is connected to a "stove"on one exhaust manifold. This allows heated air into the carburetor IF the damper in said carb.is closing off external(cold)air. There is a vacuum motor controlled by a temperature sensor in the air cleaner.
