Micky
The code for my radio came in a separate booklet that was inside with the warranty information. Last page I think. If you can't find it, I would call up vw and see if they can pull the information.

Re: Radio asks for CODE

I had the same problem. I called the local VW dealer gave him the serial number of the radio and the VIN number and he gave me the code for free.

Hey gang!
All your stories have a happy ending.....
Mine seems not to..........
I have a serial number..... I have a vin #.......
I went to the dealer...... he says nope not working......
He says,"I must have the card that came with the owners
manual... he wanted a # that started like this:
vwz(one digit)z then more numbers......
for example vwz3z4393399 etc.......
SO if you can help me out here with this that would be grand...
He says, without the # on the card I get to have a
new wheel chock. for my car...
vin# and serial# of radio is not enough.........
What do you think?

I would try calling another dealership around your area or maybe not in your area and seeing if they can get the code for you over the phone. If not find another dealership close by and see if they will give it to you...

I was considering that as an option as well..
Maybe they are bozo's.
Could you's tell me....
for those who fell into this category.......
(of needing a radio code)
tell me what you provided the dealer ship with to get it.....
now I am not asking for the numbers.........
just what the items where.... for example
vehicle ident# (aka VIN)
what #'s off the radio.....
or off anything else.....
and what year was the vehicle....
Mine is a 91.....
he claimed that it is too old... and need a vwz#z##### ident number.

thanks! M
