Question engine stalling

Hello everyone, I'm a new member to this forum but i already have a question if you all could help me out.
I own a 1995 chevy 1500 4x4 with a 4.3 a engine. Currently i'm having a stalling problem. the truck runs fine when driving no lose of power . and it idles fine in park or neutral. it tries to stall when i push the brake in to come to a stop. normally i would think this is a low idle problem but it also happens when the truck is in neutral and park. as soon as i push in the brake to move the truck into gear the engine wants to stall. another unexplained thing is that when the engine is threatening to stall if i have the turn signal on it blinks at double the normal speed. i'm lost, why would just pushing in the brake cause the engine to stall when the transmission is not even engaged.

If it stalls when you press the brake, the vacuum booster could have a leak.

Try disconnecting the vacuum booster and plugging the vacuum hose. Do not drive the truck like this but verify that the stalling is gone or not.

brake booster

i went through the same thing last thursday my truck was doing the exact same thing (except the turn signal) and it was my brake booster it had a leak and you could hear the air leaking leaking when you held the pedal down...when you do this it takes some vacuum out of the motor and if the booster has a leak then it takes too much and the motor tries to die...is your pedal really hard when you press it ?? mine was because the booster wouldnt hold any air in it (vacuum)...hope this helps !!

I'm having a similar problem, will stall every so often if I'm on the brakes and switching from F to R or vice versa. also have a bit of soft pedal going on. from reading the threads seems like it could be the check valve, booster or master Cylinder. i have new pads in the front and back and no visible leaks. I was going to try the check valve first. is there any way to test it first and does anyone know how much $$$$?????? they cost. thanks.

You can check the booster and/or check valve by pulling off the vacuum hose from the brake booster after the truck is shut off. The booster should hold a vacuum after the truck is shut off. If there is no vacuum I would suspect the check valve first, then the booster.

as to the second part: i think that your under the dash flasher may be going bad.

This sounds like it could be a electrical problem to me. If it were the break booster then it would happen all the time becuase there is always vacume on it. I would test the alternator output and the battery. Brake lights draw a lot of amps and this sounds like it is a bad alt. or a short in the brake light wiring. I may be wrong but it is another route to take in getting the problem solved.

ps. if the turn lights are flashing fast it could be from a bad flasher or a bad bulb on the front or rear of the truck.
