Re: AC Compressor

A new R4 Compressor from the dealer is around $378.00.
They are simple to install however if you dont have the proper refrigeration tools and equipment you wont get it right and could cause the new compressor to fail as well.

The system needs to be flushed completely if you had a compressor to fail to remove all of the metal fragments and debris from the compressor that failed or they will either end up clogging your orifice tube and it wont cool right or they will return to the compressor and cause damage to it and will void the warranty because of improper installation.

In other words - if you dont know what your doing take it somewhere that is well qualified to do a/c repair work or the dealer. You will be money ahead in the long run and better satisfied with the outcome

Re: AC Compressor

It will take approx 2 hours to R & R the part , flush the system and evacuate for recharging . @$60 / hour = $120 (approx) labor.
The $60 / hour is average shop labor rate - your mechanic or service center may charge more or less that that.

Re: Re: AC Compressor

If you bring your own part to have installed, that usually raises the labor rate by $10-20/hour.
