89 Probe Turbo Problems

I have to push in the Clutch to start my car but there have been times when my car will crank but not turn over. Why is that?

Thanks

Re: Need Help Re: 89 Turbo

Easy quick way to see if it is your spark plugs, take the main wire off the distibuter, the one that comes from the coil and ground it, you need two ppl for this to see if it has a spark, if it doesnt have a spark, you might need to replace the igniter, and coil assembly, might it is only two nuts that hold it on, if you cant get the nut on the bottem easily, open up the air cover, and try starting it again after you remove the air filter, it could be badliy cloged i doubt it but it could be, if you replace it and it still isnt working, check and see if your gauges are working first , if not we both might be in the same pridicament.

when you say it cranks but doesnt turn over do you mean it wont do a full revolution. if that is the case, i had a 93 ford escort with sim probs. it ended up being a bad battery.
