Help Car Wont Start???

I have a 1998 Pontiac Bonneville SSEI. 3 days ago I had a bit of trouble starting it. I happened again yesterday but again it started after a couple of minutes. Now it wont start at all and here are the symptoms Battery is at 12.5volts pending further diagnostics with starter draw. Fuses under hood and in car have been checked, all good, no click when i turn the key to insinuate a bad seloniod, there is no real sound at all other than a faint click inside the car when the key is turned. Do not confuse the last statement with starter or starter seloniod click. plenty of power from the battery, I have also tried my spare key just in case it was the security system. Ohh and by the way no aftermarket alarm.
Thanks for the help in advance if anyone knows where i can get a skimatic of the starting system it would be very much apreciated.

Re: Help Car Wont Start???

Did you try jumping the car? The only reason I ask is that you may have plenty of volts at the battery but few amps. Second, remove and clean the battery terminals, although be careful as you may lock up your radio due to the security system. Next, check the fusable links at the starter to see if they are all good. Finally, try jumping across the starter just to see if it will turn. If the solenoid and starter check out then the problem may be in the ignition switch.

Re: Help Car Wont Start???

Check the connector to the ignition control module, particularly the last three wires (ignition feed in, sensor feed out and sensor ground out). My 93 Bonneville lost engine spark driving down the road so I replaced the crank sensor worked fine for 2 days and it happened again. Coils checked good, ICM checked good and wiring for both the crank and cam sensors checked good. The connectors for those three wires had opened up just wide enough to permit an intermittent connection on the pin connector on the ICM. I smashed them closed a little bit and problem solved.

Also check your oil level. If the car is burning oil and the level drops, the sensor in the oil pan will cut off the ignition system and not allow you to start the car with low oil.
