Info On Sr20det

Im Getting A Sr20det To Put In My 1991 240sx Hatchback, And I Just Need A Little Information Before Do Get It.

1. I Was Wondering If I Needed A New Radiator Or Could I Use My Stock Ka24de On?
2. What Spark Plugs Could I Use That I Could Buy At Any Auto Stores Like Auto Zone? Could I Use The 200sx Se-r?
3. What Oil Filter Would I Use, Same As Question 2?
4. Are There Any Parts That Im Going To Need To Use On The Sr20 Motor Thats On My Ka24de Motor?

Well Thanks For Anyones Help!!

Re: Info On Sr20det

1) stock would work fine but upgrading never hurts
2) iridium 2-prong plugs are good, better than single prong and you won't need 4 unless you're gonna push out more power (you'll need better spark after a certain amount of compression i would assume)
3) http://www.courtesyparts.com/sr20det...et_tuneup.html
4) you're probably buying everything you need with the sr but you could also look into having a dual electric fan (again, it wouldn't hurt). if you're keeping the ka then use as much as you can but use common sense (don't replace anything on the sr thats inferior to any ka part). if you're selling your ka then i'll buy it for $200

i'm sure you'll get various opinions, so don't take mine as your sole source of info.
good luck

Re: Info On Sr20det

I thought the NGK Irridium plugs only came in single, I thought only the Bosch crap came in 2 and 4.

Re: Info On Sr20det

DONT put bosch in
had bad experiences using bosch plugs in sr20de's
just use platinum/iridium plugs, NGK or DENSO are probably the best.
i wouldnt even pay extra to get more prongs. 2 prongs may last a little longer if the prongs are 180degrees apart from each other, but otherwise are just a scam.

oh yeah and spark plugs do NOTHING to 'increase' the spark.

Hey Thanks For All The Info

To D-bo I Woulndt Sell My Engine First Of All Because The Motor Is Blown, I Really Dont Know What It Wrong With It. But It Wont Let Me Rev Past 4 And After 2 It Makes A Really Loud Clanking Noisy In The Engine, Like The Pistons Are Hitting The Valve Cover Or They Are Loose, So But If Still Interested Haha Yea 200$ And Iknow That If I Use My Stock Radiator I Would Need A New Hose Because On The Ka24de Radiator The Top Hose Is On The Left And On The Sr20det The Hole Is On The Right. Do You Know If There Is A Hose That Will Extend All The Way To The Other Side??

Well I Got Most The Info I Needed But One Thing I Still Didnt Get Is What Do I Ask For If Buying Spark Plugs From Autozone? Do I Ask For The Sr20det Spark Plugs Or What Kind Do I Ask For??

Thanks

Re: Info On Sr20det

DO NOT ask autozone which ones you should get
go find the denso or NGK part # on the net for the stock sr20det and then go to nissan dealer for NGK or wherever for denso (toyota dealer maybe?) and MAKE SURE THE PART # matches what you need

if you ask for sr20det plugs at any stupid parts store they will look at you like wtf is this guy talking about and end up giving you spark plugs for a civic or some shit

Re: Info On Sr20det

about the single or double prong plugs, it'll make a long-term difference if you're pushing higher boost with a 2 or 4 prong but not so much between 7 and 11 psi maybe. the single prong iridium ngk plug will be fine. its the same one thats in the 2.0L sentra motor so you could even go to your local nissan dealership and ask them for the SR20DE spark plugs, NOT SR20DET. keep it simple for the parts guy.

Assuming an S13 Flat-top

Spark Plugs from a 91-94 SER
Oil Filter From a 91-94 SER
Fuel Filter From a TT 300ZX

Just get NGK Iridiums. Single Tips work fine on a 475whp SR... they'll work perfect a 180whp one.

To get the OEM Radiator to work just ask for two 90 degree L shaped hoses... (I think 34mm ID) its not hard.

Your KA doesnt work because you killed one or more bearings. plan on alot of downtime since your motors about as ded as it gets and it looks like an SR swap is gonna take you forever.
