Angry Meg.II - Problems with electronics

Hello everybody!

I'm posting to this forum, because I didn't get much help in german forums. I've got the following problems with my Megane II 1.9dCi - Built Nov 2002:

At least one time per week, my car computer displays the warning that the ESP and the TCS were defect, the yellow "Service-Indicator" glows. After restarting the engine, the error has gone. I also sometimes get the warning, that I should check the servo steering, also in conjuction with the service indicator. This error also dissapears after restarting the engine. And in some cases the display shows a total malfunction of the car electronics, all instruments (speed indicator, fuel gauge,...) stop working and all indicator led's start to glow. It is not nice if this happens on the german autobahn at a speed of 200 km/h (~124 mph). It is not tracable under wich circumstances this happens, but I can reproduce these errors as follows:

With running engine, if I adjust my steering wheel ruggedly (vertical and in depth) I get these errors too. In a german forum I read, that it could be possible, that there are some cables under the coverage underneath the steering wheel, that are a little bit too short, so they sometimes lose electric contact and so the computer gets confused. I agree with that, because if the computer displays me the total malfunction of the electronics and if I then beat onto the steering wheel coverage underneath the steering wheel, this error disappears and "only" the error "ESP/TCS defective" remains.

On the other hand, somebody told me, that it could be the car battery. If it is a bit older, it could be that there appear some voltage peaks in connection with the generator that confuse the computer too.

I'm not familiar with vehicles so I don't know. The first reason is a bit more plausible to me. But I don't really know.

It would be very nice if someone of you could try to reproduce these errors by adjusting the steering wheel ruggedly with running engine. Or perhaps someone has similar problems?

The three times I was in my garage, the Renault mechanicians did't find anything. They saw the errors by connecting a pc to my car computer but they were a bit helpless. If these errors stay, they will "disassemble" the car to look for the reason, they told me. But I don't want to spend so much money for that!

Thank you very much in advance for your suggestions!

Greetings from germany,

Tevoxx.
