Buy your GT4 cars at a 15% discount!

That’s right, only pay 85% for your new cars. Don't pay 3,500,000 for that Mazda 787B or 4,500,000 for the Toyota GT-One, get them for only 2,974,999 and 3,824,99!

OK, Here's how....

When you are ready to buy, use the PS2 Browser feature and make a copy of your game. With your copy, buy the car and save the game to the copy. Then reboot your game with your original game and but the car from the trade feature off the other cartridge.

I discovered this early on and decided I would share it since I didn’t see anyone else posting the info. For some reason, the calculation drops the price by 1 credit of 85%, that’s why the 999’s.

You can also rejuvenate cars mileage this way by simply buying a high mileage car from yourself. Rather than buying a second favorite car if you ran it with burnt oil, buy it from yourself at the 85% instead of a new one at full price. Everything is reset. Mileage to 0.0 (good thing) all goodies gone (boo hoo.)

If you do this from a vehicle bought used, the mileage is reset to what it was when you bought it and there is no 15% discount on the used ones.

One more thing, for me it's not worth the hassle to do this on cars that are relatively cheap. I only do it when I can save a hundred k's or more.

Yes you need a second memory card. Sorry I didn't specify that. And you need to do a copy from the PS2 Browser feature. If you save over the wrong game, or save other than the loaded game, you lose all the cars you have except the one you are in, onj the new save game. Your original is still safe. I did that to copy my money and start with an empty garage to load it up with the used cars, since I am collecting data on all the cars for power, goodies to buy, etc. However, you do not need a 2nd card if you buy an existing car off your own game. If you put allot of milage on a car and want to 'rejuvinate' it, buy it from yourself and it starts you all new stats. Just place your game in slot 2 for the trade and then back to slot 1.

I didn't think mileage had an effect on a car (as long as it has new oil).

Well, you are mistaken. With GT3, you can load up a car with all options and buy it at normal cost with all the options.

GT4 restores the car to 0 milage for new cars and delivered milage for used cars. All car stats are returned to normal, and all purchased stuff is lost!

My god, did you even read the thread? The point is, you can buy a new car at the 85% cost!
