Raced a cocky Boxster

It's like 10 at night, and I am on my way to a friends house. The roads are completely empty, not a car in sight. I stop at a red light, look both ways...nothing coming . Was about to go thruogh it, seeing as in how I was probably the only person in the whole county out on the road. Then I look in my mirror, and see a car hauling ass behind me. The light goes green so he just flys past me. I get a quick glimpse of the car, its a Porsche Boxster convertible (top down), looked like 2 people were in it. I launch as fast as I can and get some tire spin, and try to catch up. The Porsche is doing about 60 or 70 (in a 45). Im doing as best I can to catch up to the guy, then I think he noticed me in his mirror and slowed down a bit. I was about 50 feet behind him and we both hit a light. I roll up next to him and give him a little rev and look over. There was a guy, late 20s early 30s, sitting at the wheel wearing a suite and a rather nice looking girl about the same age wearing a dress. He looks over at me like Im crazy , so I rev it up again, this time to about 5k. He still looks at me like I'm crazy, and leans over and says something to his girl and she giggles and looks over at me. So I just put my gas to the floor and let my engine do the talking . The guy gave a hesitant nod of consent, and smirked. The light goes green, we take off. I get a great launch with just a tiny tire squeek. By the end of 1st I already had a half a car length. By 2nd I was starting to walk away with it. I shift out of 2nd at about 5 grand, and by this time the Porsche is a few lengths back. I push my clutch in and lay down a nice rev for him one last time, give it some gas into 3rd and floor it. I look back and see the drivers face. In a word, priceless . He was blank with shock, and to top it off by the looks of it his girl was pissed. I guess he thought his car was fast or something...good thing it wasn't a Boxster S though, that car would roast me.

Cliffnotes:
Pull up to a porsche, some hot shot guy with his girl.
They think my car is slow and hesitantly race me.
I walk him.

Everyone who owns a Porsche seems to think they are the fastest things alive. I wonder why.

Re: Raced a cocky Boxster

Nobody who owns a Porsche thinks they are the fastest things alive. They may drag race every once in awhile for fun, but a Boxster vs. a 5.0 isn't even a race. You shouldn't have walked him, you should have demolished him like he was standing still. When you get to the twisty parts of the road, however, is when the Porsche will eat your lunch. The Boxster won't even slow down for a turn you take in 2nd gear.

Everyone around here that owns a Porsche will swear up and down by its speed. They act like they own the road. But no, I can't hang with a Porsche in the twistys...but its Florida and there arent even 5 twistys in the whole state

The boxster S will beat majority of cars on the road especially the new ones. People rag on them but I don't think most have raced the S model. I see a lot of the regular boxsters in WA hardly any S's. What do you have done to our 5.0 btw?

Re: Raced a cocky Boxster

Boxter's, both normal and S, never really wanted to play with me in the Z.

But, I did get an older lady and her friend in a 911 Carrera 4 to play a few times. She looked like an older Martha Stewart with the sun hat and flower print shirt... they were laughing and having a good ol time doing 80+mph.

I would too if I was in a Porsche 911...

Nice Kill.

The regular Boxter isn't that quick. I even beat one. I'd be scared to go up against the S though.. lol
