My girlfriend drives a 1991 Integra GS,
Just recently her Automatic transmission started giving her problems. I am by no means a mechanical expert, so any advice or possible diagnosis would be greatly appreciated. 1st problem: Putting the car into reverse is fine, but when trying to accelerate or give it a little bit of gas to move, its feels like its grinding, it shakes a bit and sounds like its still in neutral, than eventually it feels like it grabs a hold of the gear and moves backwards. 2nd problem: When putting the car in drive and accellerating in 1st gear, there is no problem, when shifing from 1st to 2nd, there is not problem, but when the car is shifting from 2nd to 3rd gear, it feels like its just freely revving. Depending on how hard you have your foot in it, in between 2nd and 3rd, it jumps from about 3k to about 4k and about 3.5 k to about 4.5k... The jump depends on how far you have your foot stuck into the gas. I'm just wondering if anyone can lend me any help in trying to diagnose this problem. Thank you, Aaron

i had a problem kinda like that on one of my cars...it was the cable...but i recommend you take the car to a transmission specialist...NOT the dealer...dealer will just rip you off.

Re: 1991 Integra GS Tranny Problem!!!!
How about the fluid level and condition of the fluid? When was the last time the fluid was changed? Those are cheap easy things to check that could cause the problem, then if they don't fix it you would be best off going to a transmission shop like suggested above.
