Thumbs down Who really cares anymore...

You and I have been following the course of Nissan's Skyline for so very long. What will become of the flagship grand tourer's future? Is the GT-R it's own model? Will the envious U.S. of A receive some type of Skyline? So many questions, but one answer.

THE SKYLINE IS DEAD. Regardless of the new V35, VQ/DD motors, and XVL concept chassis talk, the real Skyline of factory production is no more. The way it goes, Nissan is making like VW and is using one frame for multiple cars. I DON'T blame them; they are in the midst of a crisis and must do what they must. But within the reform, Nissan's spirit vaporizes, along with the Skyline's. It feels as if we are trying to hang on to a name more than anything else. IF, and only if, the finalized GT-R is its OWN car, with its OWN foundation, then will I once again become a believer. Exclusivity is what separated it from the masses. The new chassis is the anti-christ of this focus. DO NOT let us down Nissan; serve your public. Don't let Renault influence your judgement. Give us something to be proud of. Until now, I've been praising the new Skyline as a more than competent sports sedan. I DO NOT CARE ANYMORE. I was lying to myself. This IS NOT what the placard SKYLINE is all about. This IS NOT why the name Skyline has such an intense following. This IS NOT why international fans are willing to pay nearly 100% more than they should to own this machine.

Make us proud, good old Blue, Red and White.

Maybe it (the GT-R) will just go away for a while, and be revived later.

My opinion: Hopefully it won't work out like the Z-car revival did.

 Sucks but true. ALL cars go through a rebirth, ALL cars. Maybe it is time for the Sklyine (which has had 3 GREAT versions) to go away for awhile I hate the idea, but life has it's up and down. The one thing that does worry me is that the FIRST Skyline (GT-R) (Whatever) released in the US is going to be a downer. (So far it looks that way, but only time will tell). So even if Nissan get's it right the next time around (aka R36???). Will the general public say "WOW I really like this version of the "whatever", I have to get one", or will the say "I'll bet it'll be as disapointing as the first one"?!

I really hope Nissan gets it right the first time. I really hope it at least lives up to the spirit of the original Skyline. I agree with Morph, I don't care if it's a I6 or V8. I DO however still care about the future of the Skyline. I will not blindly go out and buy the first thing that lands in the US of A with the name Sklyine on it tho! So Nissan get it right. DON"T sell the soul of the Skyline to save buck.
