92 350 Hyd. lifters stuck....ALL OF THEM????
Hello, I'm rebuilding the heads on my 92 350 with about 210,000 miles on it. I'm doing this because It had just blew the head gasket, never had a problem with it until now...knock on wood.. My problem is that I'm putting it back together and went to adjust the valves, when I take out all of the slack in the rocker assembly I know I need to give another 3/4 turn to set the lifter, but when I do the valve goes down instead of the lifter,....I checked mostly all of them and there doing the same thing, so basically all the lifters are like stuck.....I've rebuilt a few motors and never come across this before. I'm wondering if I should just adjust the rockers to 0 clearance or if I should try to break them free....the truck was running fine before with no valve noise at all...Just trying to figure out what I'm doing wrong, any help would be greatly appreciated!!!!!
it's a 92 GMC Z71 5.7 engine code K |

I'd adjust them and wait a wile then go back and check them. I had new lifters act similar because they wouldn't leak down fast. Leave the spring pressure on for a while then recheck by loosening to see if they did slowly bleed down. Bob B |

Nice!! Thanks...I didn't even think of that...I just went out and set up a drop indicator on the valve after I had adjusted it, and sure enough, it very slowly started moving back up.....I was getting worried I was going to have to replace them or something....Thanks again!!!
