95 lumina having trouble starting
I have a 95 Lumina with about 70k miles. I was coming home from a 4 hour trip and I was low on gas. For whatever reasons I didn't stop to get gas and the car died on the highway. I then put gas in the car and it didn't start up, so I had it towed to my apartment. Now a friend of mine said it was the fuel pump relay system, but i just recently checked on the lumina and now it starts up. But as soon as it starts it dies, unless i continually give it gas then it revs but will die the second i stop. Any idea on what the problem is?

Re: 95 lumina having trouble starting
Well i can here the full pump making a sound while someone is pumping the gas so the car doesnt die. I am thinking that either the fuel pump or I believe its called the fuel pump relay system is broken, it seems like its not getting enough gas. I was planning on dropping the tank would taking a look at the parts help at all?

Sounds like you fried your feul pump. Smack the bottom of the tank a few times wth a rubber mallot and see if it changes any.

When you ran it out of gas the fuel pick up sucked up all of the junk in the bottom of the tank. The first thing I would do is pull the filter off and have some on turn the key ON and OFF too see if fuel is coming out of the line that come from the tank. If fuel come out ( with good pressure) then you know its NOT the pump. Change the filter and try starting it.
