That's on jeg's so you can probably find cheaper, but they seem to be a great site overall. Just in my opinion, not the opinion of all, but if you're gonna rebuild that one, just get a newer more durable tranny. Gears should in no way be that expensive to install. even at $60/hour (a rough guess at your shops rate) it's gonna run you about $240 for labor. Also, why rebuild the stock motor? You don't have to go all out if you're just looking for a dependable daily driver, but a crate motor doesn't always cost an arm and a leg. They do exist at reasonable prices. that's my piece, I've been wrong before.

A $1,000 seems excessive for the cost of installation of gear. But I have seen it cost that much because some rear ends need this bearing and that seal and the charged not only for those parts but to install them.
My old work we charged $300 for installation of gears and that covered new fluid and friction modifier too. If some of your bearings were garbage we would charge for those but we didn't charge extra to install them cause there was no real extra work to do it. I'd look for it to cost anywhere from $300-$500 in labor as reasonable. A rebuilt T-5 should run you around $700, a new one $1000ish. The link posted above is a Tremec probably a bit excessive if your talking bout stock rebuilds. Getting a stock rebuild from a company like Recon or Jaspers is a like more economical than by a local engine shop.
