1996 Toyota Camry IAC

I have a 1996 Camry, it has 92,000 miles on it. 30,000 miles ago I had problems (cold)starting the car. It would start but would die right away. It wouldn't hold an idle. I changed the IAC and the problem disappeared. I spent $165 3 years ago on the part from Toyota. I now am having the same problem. I refuse to pay $245...the new price for the part. I read somewhere that you can clean the IAC.....The IAC is a small black box and has water lines connected to it and an electrical connector. Anyone out there know for a fact you can clean it? And how? Or do I go for the $245?
