Talking Rattling Noise

Hi Everyone...
I have a '00 Vitara 2dr (84,000 km). It seems to be making a terrible rattling noise when I am swiching gears, mainly when speed is being increased. I am thinking this may have something to do with the catalytic converter... not too sure.. anyone else have this problem??

Re: Rattling Noise

I have a '00 Tracker and if it's the same exhaust, there is a shield around the tailpipe that the weld may have broken allowing the rattle
Just a possibility.

Mine does it too. But I know that my Heat sheild on the catalitic converter is loose, thats whats rattling. I just don't have time to fix it yet. It's loud, annying and imbarrising too.

Re: Rattling Noise

yes there is a pipe heat shield that makes the rattling noise mostly at ove 2k and under 4k rpms the solution is to remove the shield repack it with isulation and reintall it.

great advice, I have noticed a small rattling noise on mine also, if that is all it is, I think I will crawl around down there a bit to see what I can do!
