Parking Brake light intermittently coming on

Hey guys, sorry to be a pain in the arse but you helped me with my one major problem with my car so much that I thought I'd pose this one thats been an annoying problem with my car for years and see if I could resolve it.

Car is an 1994 Chevrolet Cavalier 4dr 2.2L Sedan

It hasn't changed the driving performance of my car at all, but my Parking Brake light is coming on quite often and staying on. I noticed once I get moving say on a highway at a good speed that the light will go away. I have also noticed that when the light comes on in my dashboard that my daytime running lights go off and vise versa. Strange happening, but just an annoyance. Wondering if you fine people had any resolution or explanation on why this problem is occuring.

I have checked and adjusted the Parking Brake cable.

I believe that this car uses a single light for the Parking and the "regular" Brake light. Check your fluid level. If that is okay then you may have a loose switch on the handle. Good Luck.

is it normal to have the daytime headlights go off when the parking brake light comes on?
Seems strange.... I'll check the switch on the handle as well as the fluid.

I have a 94 RS and it does not have Daytime headlights. If I want em, I gotta pull the knob. But if you have them they should not go off at all. That is what they are for-to be on all the time.

Yes they're supposed to be on all the time -- when you're driving. But most people don't drive with their parking break on, so the car will automatically turn the DRLs off when the parking break is engaged. It will do the same thing if you have an automatic transmission and you put the car in Park.

Cool. I did not know that. I have a Buick Century with "daytime lights" but they are the yellow marker lights on the front and they are on all the time even in park. And my 94 Cavi don't have daytime lights at all. It is an RS but I guess it is the cheaper model.
