2001 Pathfinder loud audible sound in rear axle?
I recently purchased a 2001 Pathfinder with 35000 miles on it. Since then I have put around 500 miles on the SUV. The vehicle seems to be in great mechanical conditon but recently a loud audible sounds occurs from the rear axle only at speeds of 45-60 mph? I plan on changing the rear differential oil to see if this helps? Any ideas would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Re: 2001 Pathfinder loud audible sound in rear axle?
Scott,
I own a '98 Pathfinder that encountered the same problem when I purchased it 4 years ago with 50k miles. The problem deals with the gears in the rear. It was fixed free of charge under the powertrain warranty at my local Nissan dealer. As long as your Nissan is under 6yr/60k miles, you should be covered under the powertrain warranty. Good Luck |
