I have a 84 grand wagon that chugs when I'm going down the road, in the drive it idles ok, but I can hear a lifter ticking or ????? I dont know, when I get on the road it Chugs and the motor acts like its shaakinng???????? Any I deas before I take it to a mechanic??? Thanks

Mine was doing the same and replaced crank sensor. Its cured.

well the ticking u are hearing is most likely the lifters, make sure the oil level is correct. and if so then it maybe a bent Push rod or the opil pump might be failing or clogged.
I have something for u to check but it might be messy. pull a valve cover off and have someone crank the jeep (pull the ignition coil wire off the distributor b4 try to start - to make sure the jeep doesn't start). if you get alot of oil to the lifters then it is most likely a bent push rod, or maybe the rocker arm asembly is loose, retorque the rocker arm, to make sure it is to spec. |
