98 Z71 - Truck boggs down when accelerating.

I have a 98 Z71 with 94,000 miles. When I accelerate at half throttle or greater, the truck boggs down and accelerates really slow. The fuel pump sounds good, I've replaced the fuel filter. And just yesterday, I filled up with gas and tried starting my truck, and it wouldn't start. It would turn over, but not start. After about 20 minutes it finally started. Throughout that 20 minutes, I always heard the fuel pump, so I doubt it is that. Any ideas on what is wrong? Maybe fuel injectors, or a relay switch?

What's the fuel pressure at? Just because the pump sounds good doesn't mean it can still deliver the flow and pressure the vehicle needs to run. It could be injectors or something else, but you usually start by checking fuel pressure

I haven't run a test on the fuel pressure. Is there a pressure guage that I can buy at the local parts store to test the pressure? and how do I go about doing that. Thanks for the reply.

Re: 98 Z71 - Truck boggs down when accelerating.

Here's some new info. Today, my truck wouldn't start again, for the 2nd consecutive day. The engine would turn over, but never start. So I figured that I would disconnect the fuel line at the fuel filter to see if the fuel pump was out. well, once i turned my key forward, my fuel pump pushed plenty of gas out. so i reconnected my line to the fuel filter and my truck started instantly. Now the acceleration is good, but there were times on the drive home that the bogging continued, but very little.

Here's what happened. After a fuel pressure test, as recommended by Jeremy-WI, it turned out that my fuel pump was gradually going out. I replaced the pump and the truck runs like new, accelerates better than normal, and I am happy. Thanks for the tip Jeremy-WI.
